Sorry just had to get that out of my system.

Do you know it matters to Sky whether my title is Miss, Ms or Mrs - it appears to be part of their data protection checking.

I hate call centres too, but must say that Sky is among the worst for admin and customer care.

If they didnt have a monopoly and protect it fiercely people would migrate a lot sooner...

I remember a few years ago ringing Sky because our box stopped working. We got nothing but automated messages saying please hold, blah blah blah, after 30 mins of waiting Another message was played saying " we are very busy please call back later" then the line went dead. This happened 3 times in successsion, and needles to say I was starting to get a bit fecked off.

So I tried a new ploy. I rang Sky's number for new customer enquiries and what do you know the phone was answered in 3 rings by a human. I saw red and asked the guy, "why when sky think a potential new customer is calling you can answer it quickly, yet when a current customer has a technical fault we are treated like sh1t?". I made him internally transfer me to the technical bods and my problem was sorted out.

I've had the holy trinity this morning...Sky, Cheltenham & Gloucester and Lloyds Bank. I've got no-where with any of them and am currently very close to murdering someone....

I know the feeling.. I use 2 of those and would dearly love to ditch one, but am stuck if I want a decent TV package..

Couple of tricks are as someone said, phone the new customer line. Also, look on www.saynoto0870.com and find a geographical number you can call from landline/mobiles for free. Really annoys me the number of times I have no choice but to call a non-geographical number and get charged through the nose for listening to how busy they are and how inept at forecasting call volumes..

The rules about how 0870 numbers are charged are changing and from January 2008 you'll no longer be charged extra for calling them. They will cost you the same as a normal national phone call, and they will form part of your bundled minutes packages.

yes
Sky are an absolute nightmare to deal with. They wanted us to jump through so many hoops to update our account after we got married (Sky's in the wife's name) that we've given up. We win in the end, mind you, as I can quite freely sign up as a new customer when the HD boxes start getting cheaper.

LOL - well I hope she's remembered whether she's told them she's Miss, Ms or Mrs - as they won't talk to her unless she can confirm this!!

The great news is - I've got to speak to them again - how much am I looking forward to that. The worse thing is as i could only understand about 2 words out of 3 that the phone operator used I don't know whether he has changed my title to Mrs or whether I'm supposed to write to them to confirm (yeah like I care rolleyes)

Lloyds Bank.

I've been left in charge of the company bank account and I can't believe any bank's call-centre could be worse than HSBC's in India. The guy that normally does it moans a lot, and I understand why now. We're going to have to change bank.

someone pass me a knife, I'm on the phone to Sky....it really is very very very painful.

It's not the staffs fault but it really is hard going. It's the bloody repeating the whole time "so you want a new viewing card" - yes like I just said. Then this bloody obsession with my marital status and title...

...and I've now got the recorded message telling me how frigging wonderful Sky is - it really is getting too much......

...or that NTL (now Virgin?) are probably one of the few companies (allegedly) worse than Sky laugh
