I'm in the early stages of formulating a business plan, with a possible exit plan of selling up to a national company once established.

The national company has various brands such as ABCproperty.com, ABCrentals.com and the ABCx.com which would fit with my idea is available.

NB: not to use ABCx.com as my business name, purely to hold it for the future.

So hypothetically, I set up this business, establish it, and ABC is interested. Would having ABCx.com add possible value, or would they have any legal claim to the name?

1. they'll spank you to within an inch of your life once they are interested for using their name.

2. they'll probably spank you before you get near your exit strategy.

your are a soliticors dream waiting to happen.

sorry. just think its a bad idea.

Registering the name not to use it, purely to hold it.

difficult one in that case.

if you don't use it, the worst case scenario is that they ask for the domain in the future, which you are then more or less duty bound to hand over. reckon it would prejudice a sale though if you popped it out of the hat and said "look what i've got".

So you fancy setting up a company for cybersquatting? You will not be popular.
