Been having a browse on this site and wondered how many people on this are legit? Anyone made good business contacts through here? A lot of the haves have basic grammer or spelling mistakes and these claim to be UK companies!

Cheers

My experience is that they are all well dodgy , we trade computer hardware and they all seem to be offering impossible low prices so our guess is its fake

Yes I would say that 95% of the traders on Alibaba are scammers, even the gold suppliers, I would stay well away.

I've used them in the past to make contact with a company in Hing Kong.

As far as I am aware they are as trustworthy as the companies that use them....which is not a good reason not to use them. Just be careful and find out as much about the manufactur/supplier as you can.

I helped a friend get some minimoto's imported through alibaba a few years ago, they where cheap but he got what he paid for, most came back broken within the first week and the seller wanted nothing to do with it.

one 40ft container worth of minimoto's only several that actually worked for more than 15 mins.

he still has half a garage full of spares from the broken ones, he was selling the spares on ebay, then the law changed and you cant drive minimotos, no one wants them.

I bought some kids dirt bikes (not the mini motos type) and they were fine.
I then bought some generators from the same company and again they were OK
I had a load of reversing sensors which were 50/50.

I them ordered some minimots and they were complete shite!
Not the model I ordered, not the colour I ordered and the guy in China stopped replying to my emails.

I switched supplier, again from Alibaba and had no troubles with any of the dirt bikes, quads or scooters I ordered.

The only problem is that the Chinese will supply you with a 40 foot container of bikes and happily sell you nextdoor neighbour the same.

You end up with hundreds of people all desperate to sell the same product in competition with each other until you end up having to give the stuff away.

Alibaba is no different from eBay or anywhee else on the net, There are sharks! proceed with your eyes open!
