HMRC gets bugging powers
He already has the power to arrest, and as of today, the British taxman will also be able to intercept phone calls, emails and letters, as well as bug residential premises and private vehicles.

The goverment seem to be able top do what they want but will stop at nothing to come after the man in the street!!

Couldn't they do this already?

I doubt that they will be doing this for those who have left the odd bit of interest off their Self Assessment tax return.
