Always been curious.

Those road side food vans you get in laybys on the side of the road. Do you have to have permission to stop there? If so, what sort of licence do you apply for?

Pretty sure the local Council gives them out - apply there.

Also, what about ice cream men. Do they have to have permission to stop at every location they stop at?

Yep you need a licence.

I've speculatively got a licence for a great location, got someone who wants to work in it, and can't find a suitable bloody vehicle at the moment.

I had one 20 years ago on A23, cost 2000 rented it out for 500 a week, I believe that was the daily takings. But they are always getting broken into.

I think (think) that he means have a mobile one. Perhaps one that you can tow with a normal vehicle.

I looked into this years ago and the costs we're horrendus. we went to Wilkinson catering and was quoted something like 13 grand for a small but brand new one. that was a cheap starter unit as well. AJC look like good value.

The big money is in events but the costs are also ridiculous, i was quoted over a grand a day just to park on the site depending on what venue it was.

There is and must be money to be made if you know what you are doing. A guy opposite has one down the lane near me. He has a very nice home and a nice Range Rover so if the money was that crap then i'm sure he wouldn't bother.

I'd say its all about contacts in this game.
