There are a number of different angles you can go for, the most obvious is a macho intimidating name, the destroyer, ice axe etc, but you could also have the more random type, think of doctor zog's sex wax, or kangaroo poo for surf wax. Something like that sticks in the mind.
Techno names such as "x418" with a leaflet on this amazing x418 carbon resin composite that your research facility has spent years on would be another. Milder techno names would be like Lamitech or something.

Each name type gives of a certain image, you'd need to find either what image would sell, or create a new image and force it on people.

The Eco Stick.

You take all the nasty carbon out of the atmosphere and change it into hockey sticks.
Think of the children.

Ice Calibre... You can then call the top of the range one the Ice Calibre 44!

Ice Calibre... Excalibur... get it?

You could have a hand coming out of the ice, clutching the stick in a gloved hand in your advertising campaign.

If you use this, do I get a free stick? biggrin

carbonice'd or take your companies intials and called it eg ABC1000

although most field hockey sticks, as i play field hockey have just letters and numbers such as my stink

TK cx1.0 plus its 90% carbon fibre 10% kevlar

but take grays there all called like GX5000 GX6000 not many have actual names

it is a bit diverse to go from plane interiors to hockey sticks why the move?

That and the fact the market is flooded with carbon fibre sticks, mine being a kevlar and carbonfibre weave.

What is your USP as people will go for the brands they trust/see their favourite players using.

Hi guys,

The company I work for has just designed and made a new product. It is a carbon fibre ice hockey stick. We are currently trying to think of a name for the new product but are coming up with nothing.

I know lots of people who have had brilliant suggestions from the PH lot, so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon!

Thanks smile
How about...

why dont you look at the Field hockey market and see how they make their sticks (not just CF)???

I have one nicknamed 'the unbreakable' aka 'the great black'.... If I can break that stick in open play it is under warranty to get a new one....

think about that too....

Thanks to everyone!

I will forward on all suggestions and comments to the guys at work. As it isn't my project, I don't know about the fine details or R+D carried out on it.

The stick is a "toe in the water" project and will work alongside our other work. The company has made various things for medical, sports, F1 backgrounds etc so this isn't too radical a change in direction for us.

Thanks again guys and girls

Will definitely bear this in mind. You are not the first person to ask, so I will add you to the list! As I am not the project manager on this one, its out of my hands but will make them aware I have potential testers available!

Thanks

How about... ShadowBane, Bringer of Doom, Slayer of the Mighty, Dispatcher of Evil. You might need the sticks to be a foot longer to fit the name on it though. jester
