The OSX/Apple support thread

An odd one for a dedicated detective....
I have twice (several weeks apart) attempted to upload 3 documents from my MacBook, to a British Airways website.
On each occasion, I have subsequently received a message via email, telling me that I have uploaded my gas bill, rather than the required documents.
On the second occasion - bearing in mind the first "error" - I was extremely careful, having renamed each of the files, placed them in a different local folder, and checked the names (which were confirmed on the website) prior to hitting "Submit".
It seems to me to be way too much of a coincidence that I have made exactly the same error each time, and wonder whether there is
1) A bug in the upload file selection process - when I do a search on all of my local documents, using "British" as the selection filter, the first files shown are all my British Gas bills. Maybe there is some website bug, where the selection is picking up "British" (as in British Airways) from some instance in the site code, and then using this to link to the first file which matches?
or.....
2) This is BA just trying to delay my compensation claim (for a delayed flight)
The cynic in me is suggesting (2), because the latest correspondence from BA carried a link for a new upload, which took me to the "Lost Baggage" compensation page.
This is not a lost baggage claim, and never was one....

I'm trying to install Windows 10 onto a USB drive so I can run a piece of pc software. Repeatedly getting told there isn't enough space on the USB when there is. I'm running Sierra 10.12.6.
Any help greatly appreciated!
Can't help with your issue above but as an alternative, why not use Oracle VirtualBox directly on your mac and run Win10 in that?Any help greatly appreciated!

I finally managed to get my hands on a windows laptop (that has to be kept plugged in with the charger constantly whilst in use). The software itself is abysmal.... I'm glad I didn't sully my mac with it!This is an interesting one.
I have a Mac book pro with my Apple ID on. I just bought a Mac book air and setting up with my Appled id, it said this was locked by my Mac book pro and asked for the Mac book pro password - which worked and everything went on as normal.
Struct me as very odd, and not something I remember having happened before, any ideas?

I’ve had an issue with my iPhone 6S not backing up to iTunes (on a MacBook Pro), or my iCloud account. MacBook is arguably struggling with free disk space, but iCloud account is the 2TB version, so no issues there.
Spent 2.5 hours on the phone on Saturday to Apple and not even the senior technician knew what the issue is.
Follow up call scheduled for this coming Saturday.
Any thoughts, tips or advice?

You need enough free space on the iPhone for the backup to work, how's the space looking on that?Spent 2.5 hours on the phone on Saturday to Apple and not even the senior technician knew what the issue is.

It's two factor authentication I believe -- you have to 'show' you own the Apple ID by using the password of another machine. It's happened to me and that's what I told myself anyway I have a Mac book pro with my Apple ID on. I have a Crucial SSD that I want put in my Late 2012 Mac Mini to replace the original factory fit mechanical HDD. However I am having problems finding the correct instructions on how to clone the old HDD onto the new one using Disk Ultility as the Crucial cloning tool doesn't seem to be available for Mac. I am running 10.15.2 Catalina and all the online guides I can find seem to be for older OSs which don't seem to be quite the same.
The first issue I have come up on is I need to format my SSD. The existing drive is APFS, so assume I should format the SSD the same. However, I also have the option to choose a "scheme". The default is "GUID Partition Map", but I don't know if that is correct.
Once formated, my plan was then to go into Disk Utility in recovery mode and restore the new SSD from the old drive. I notice in Catalina that the system HDD is formated in two partitions "Macintosh HD" and "Macintosh HD - Data". Will that all be properly replicated on the new SSD if I do a restore?

Just wanted to give this a bump as I was hoping to put the new drive in over the weekend. If it simplifies things, I don't have any software or files I need to retain, so can do a clean install if that simplifies things. Can anyone point me to instructions for doing this on Catalina? The first issue I have come up on is I need to format my SSD. The existing drive is APFS, so assume I should format the SSD the same. No idea.
However I was going to do this disk change on my iMac and reading somewhere that there is a cooling mod required for iMac (replacing the fusion SSD and spinner with a SSD), not sure you will have the same issue. Also there is this web site that can aid with taking it apart. (random grab from the site below, you will have to dig your model out the instructions)
https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac+mini+Model+A1283+...
For me, the solution will be to use an external hard drive with the thunderbolt input and put Mac OS on the external drive (I have most backup external hard drives with OS Catalina on) and boot from that, then copy what I want from a backup. I reckoned my chances of physically wrecking the iMac high looking at the tear down instructions for mine. Can you use an external hard drive in your situation?
Might be of use, try the search.

Mac OS Carolina. Utter turd. Can’t use MS Office we have paid money to and can’t connect to WiFi. The two basics to every computer for work. Seriously wish I never bothered!!
Which version of Office are you complaining about? If it's not 2016, 2019 or 365, then blame Microsoft for not bothering to update Office 2011 to be compatible (or the user for not buying an updated version for a good few years)...considering they've had 5 years or so notice.
I knew (and it's been publicised for many years) that 32-bit apps wouldn't work in Catalina, so have kept my Mac on Mojave until I've found/bought equivalent apps.
It's 'Catalina' by the way.
