Bugger I thought I didn't need more but now I've totally justified that purchase. £35 on Ali express if anyone else "needs" one. For a while I've been thinking of getting a diffuse for a torch to act as a lantern we you've saved me from buying one of those.... a lantern!!...
I keep promising swmbo that I'll sell some of the ones I already have. I'm sure a lantern is different enough for it not to count as a torch.
Wondering whether anyone can help. I bought a Romisen RC-N3 a while (5 years or so) ago. Link:

It was great. Big enough not to get lost, small enough not to be a problem to carry. 2xAA (eneloops) and three modes (bright, dim, flash). Cost me just under £10 on a slow boat from China IIRC.
I've lost it. Can anyone suggest a replacement? I can't seem to find one to buy so guess they are discontinued. Does an updated, (i.e. better!) version exist?
Thanks.

Can you stretch to £20 and use 1x 18650 Lithium battery?
This is what I'd get (and have): http://www.banggood.com/BLF-A6-CREE-XPL-1600LM-7-4...

The cheap Chinese single AA Q3 jobbies are surprisingly good and so cheap to almost be considered disposable. I was so impressed with the first one I bought that I picked up another 3 to keep one in each car and have some spares around the place.

I've just got an LED Lenser P7.2 through from Amazon and the instructions say it should work as follows:
First press - maximum light
Second press - high light
Third press - low light
Fourth press - off
It calls it the three step quick cycle switch function.
However I get the following:
First press - bright
Second press - less bright
Third press - off
What am I missing??

I have had a P7.2 for some time.First press - maximum light

Press the button against spring pressure, but not to the click = Max power.
Press further to the click, release = High power.
Press again, click = low power.
Press again, click = Off
When the torch is in any mode, off, high or low power, pressing the switch but not far enough to click gets max power.

Yay excuse to buy more torch geekery!
Fenix CL25R - This is a lovely little unit, runs on my preferred 18650s and has a moonlight mode.
It's tiny but will easily light a room or tent to well beyond required levels, will probably only use bottom two settings in the main.
Late reply as I've been off using mine. It's good, but in several weeks camping I only used it a couple of times. (That may be down to what I'm doing though - if I'm reading at night it's on a phone or tablet, so don't need masses of light.)... a lantern!!

My tent lighting consists of the CL25R hanging centrally and 2-4 Thorfire KL02's dotted around hanging on mini krabs. The KL02 is a brilliant little light - running on an Olight 16340 they put out a decent, even, bright light that's ideal for local area lighting. At the price it's well worth having a couple.
