Discussion
I have been reading this thread for a few weeks now, really cant decide on a decent torch, if you guys can give me some ideas it would be great. My requirements would be 1.smallest possible 2.brightest 3.usb charging if possible (this would be a major plus) 4.decent feel 5.durability
My budget is max 250 quid
If anyone knows a decent torch shop in and around London that would make things a lot easier for me,I hate shopping on the internet

Anyone ?
There is only one USB chargeable torch that I know of available in the UK.Here: http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/itp/itp-r01-recharge...
But it is not the smallest or the brightest (an impossible mix, the smallest torch can never be the brightest torch) although it is 190 lumens which is not bad for pocket torch.
Neither is it £250. It is £34.95
Someone else posted a link to a USB chargeable Chinese torch earlier in this thread which may be brighter (and cheaper).
China takes 3 weeks to deliver though.
As for buying a decent torch in a bricks and mortar shop, not very easy, most shops are way behind Internet shops in torch technology.

£33 - Bargain. Looks like a similar set-up to the Olight SR92 but the Olight costs £249.95LocoBlade said:
FWIW the XTAR I posted about a couple of pages back was from a UK supplier.
Yes, sorry LocoBlade, here is a link to it: http://www.xtarlight.co.uk/Shop/p-5780-XTAR-A01-R5...pidsy said:
i go to the one in watford - members only (trade) i'm afraid. well worth the £17 + vat though.
they do have odd days when their membership criteria slips and anyone can join. always worth going in to ask.
No, as long as you've got a respectable profession (no dole-ites or 3.142-keys) you can get a membership at Costco anytime.they do have odd days when their membership criteria slips and anyone can join. always worth going in to ask.
Thanks for the replies , I sort of decided on this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zweibrüder-8307...

1. smallest possible? NoIt's a lenser m7r , what do you think ?
2. brightest? No
3. USB charging? Yes
4. decent feel? Yes
5. durability? Yes
6. Available in brick shops? Probably
7. under £250? Yes

LED Lenser are popular on this forum.
They have a handy flood-to-throw feature (if you need that).
Comes in a nice box with a magnetic wall-charger.
LED Lenser do not tell us which LED diode they are using, another secret is the make and mAH of the battery (and a second battery would have been nice).
Nice option of High or Low mode but some people like all these beacon/SOS/strobe functions, others do not.
Overall: A nice box set with a well made German torch. USB charging is (nearly) unique, flood-to-throw is handy. Your link said £110.99, that is a fair chunk of money for a 220 lumen torch.

That seems bloody expensive compared to a P7/T7 which is the same output! Just because of a rechargeable battery? It's a lenser m7r , what do you think ?

The XTAR I mentioned does pretty much everything the Lenser does for a quarter of the price, perhaps not quite as slick a charging arrangement and no spot to flood adjustment but it's brighter and battery replacement etc should be easier should the need arise. It's a lenser m7r , what do you think ?

and they do an even more powerful T6 based one (over 3x brighter than the Lenser) for an extra £8

Will report back once I have received it. Seems a superb torch and I am expecting it to be very bright with 3x XM Leds.
I have also ordered some new 'good' quality 18650 batteries and a new charger:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Sanyo-2600mAh-Li-ion-...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ultrafire-WF-137-Fast-ch...
Think I have bought 4x torches now! plus some uprated batteries and a new charger.
Been an expensive thread

Just bought this set on a whim from costco - £17 + vat for 3

Tested last night and much more intense than my 3D mag lite led.
I bought these when they were a 'twin' pack last year.http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e265/davep-uk/b9...

Light output was superb, however one of the 2 failed within 2 weeks... so I got my money back and bought an LED one from B&Q.
It was more expensive @ about £30, but the light output is better still (doesn't have the strobe, but thats no great loss).
