^^ a quick search brought this up:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Active-Products-Cree-LED-l...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AA-Battery-3W-CREE-XR-C-...
There are a few others on ebay but I can't seem to find any that match the brightness of the flashlights/torches.
I believe you need to be looking at Cree LED's and there are different types Q5 - XM-L T6 etc with different levels of brightness.
You could look for a lantern with the highest lumen's output.. however, there is a greater range in flashlights. Don't be afraid to buy from overseas as this is where the good deals are to be had.
I am sure others will add further or correct me if I am off the mark.
Hope that helps.

Have any of you lot come across any good (bright) battery lanterns that aren't stupid money?
Or this:http://www.flashaholics.co.uk/silverpoint/silverpo...
I'm very happy with my Alpkit Bulb II lantern.
Great for camping and even working under the car!
It's not huge, won't light a field but definitely useful.
Make good stocking filler presents too. Load of reviews on google

Let us know how it goes
It's broke , dropped 4 ft and its completely dead Do I get another or is there something more robust ?
Surefire torches are very robust but expensive.
Also, the fact that you want USB charging narrows your choice to about 3 options.
Thanks for the reply , I wouldn't want just to send it back for a replacement because I dropped it , it wasn't faulty at all and they guys were pretty helpful when my delivery didn't arrive at my house . Will email the company and explain what happened, maybe they will take pity on me lol .

If not, open it up and see what's broken. Bet it's something pretty easy/obvious and a quick blast with the soldering iron fixes it.tamore said:

£33 - Bargain. Looks like a similar set-up to the Olight SR92 but the Olight costs £249.95It is a mighty impressive piece of kit and I can thoroughly recommend it. I shall get some pictures and try and provide a 'simple' review later on.
The light from this is staggering - 3 x LEDs does make a difference.

Not sure if this bit of kit has been covered yet, but PhotonicInduction has just picked up a new toy...

PhotonicInduction is the bloke that chucked the brick in the washing machine, if you've seen the GIF...
Anyone got their hands on one of these? Very close to ordering one!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbaK0U2t9KE&fea...

Very well packaged by the way.
My first 18650 batteried (?) torch.
My word, what a fabulous bit of kit. The charger is adequate rather than top quality but does the job. The batteries were charged when delivered though. The torch itself feels great to me, the extended body section has a fine thread connection and when batteries are in and all screwed up it feels to be of good quality.
Boy is it bright! So far it's only been used to illuminate the dog having a poo 30m away while standing at the back door, but that showed just how impressive the power is. I don't have experience of the Olight torch that this has been compared to, but from my perspective it's staggering value for money.
By the way; the torch takes 3 batteries, the charger has 2. I rather like the idea of a charger that would take 3 (or 4) at a time. Any recommendations?
All in all I have no hesitation in recommending these.
