Probably somewhere on here, but i'd be truly surprised if you could notice any difference afterwards - as a general rule of thumb, you need to double the output at each stage to notice an increase from the previous step. So 400 lumens looks brighter than 200, but 300 is barely perceptible.

Look for 'spring bypass.' It involves soldering a length of wire to avoid the tail spring IIRC.

Stupid question ahoy!

Ive bought from a highly rated eBay seller a Panasonic 18650 battery. It's arrived, it cost me about 7 quid, but there's no actual mention of Panasonic on the battery itself (or the label).

Neither do the ones on a Google image search, come to that.

Is this normal? Don't want to risk burning my house down with a fake...!

I don't think any of my NCR18650B's have Panasonic written on them, so it's probably fine. Post a photo if you're unsure.

Genuine Panasonic batteries are bought by others and wrapped in a new outer with their name on it — yours could be one of those.

It cold be fake, it could be Panasonic industrial made for lap tops etc. They don’t always use the fancy packing.

New arrival, I don't think i have seen one of these on this thread.

Wanted a UV pee detector because we have new cats and i suspect a crime has been comitted.

While there are loads of cheap UV led torches, having followed this thread and done a little research, when it comes to torches the ebay special is probably a load of ste.

So, cree 365 nanometer wavelength LED.
Seems pretty good. Great fun exploring the house pretending to be a csi agent!

We had a problem last year where we would come downstairs in the morning, or back into the house after work and the smell would be absolutely eye watering!

Like the strongest stench of ammonia you can think of.

We were assured it was a Tom cat 'spraying' but no other cars can get in our house as the cat flap is microchip controlled, so it was then suggested that a Tom might be spraying the outside of our house doors and the stench was so strong that it was coming in from outside.

Long story short... bought one of those UV 'piss torches' from Pets and Home and couldn't find a damn thing anywhere! Inside or out!

Jetbeam do some decent, well thought out and specced torches. Think I've got a couple - the Jet II Mk and Jet II Pro. Never had any need for a UV torch mind.

I've just purchased a Convoy S2+, my first 18650 torch.

Can anyone recommend which set of batteries?

I was looking at one of these two:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Genuine-Samsung-1865...
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-Samsung-ICR-18650-26...

The only difference seems to be the capacity (2900mAh vs 2600mAh) and the discharge current (10A vs 2.6A).

Does anyone know what difference the discharge current will make on either of these two batteries?

When the mrs is out (she won't understand) i'll take some photos of of the luminescence.

Its pretty good. Think we are pee free but I found some old cat vom patches, and the kitchen splashbacks aren't as clean as I thought!

Huge — go for the 2900 with 10A, since your torch isn’t a low-drain device, as the other one mentions being suitable for.

Alternatively opt for the longer runtime these will provide — https://ebay.co.uk/itm/302654280329

Whilst browsing for new 18650's that don't catch fire I was drawn to this torch -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BLF-Q8-5000LM-Profession...

Received it in 6 working days, so a very speedy delivery.

It's very impressive for the money, feels like it's carved from granite and has an amazing flood.

I knew I shouldn't read this thread again.

Needless to say one BLF Q8 just ordered, as I don't really have a more floody type light.
Also 4 x Sanyo high current cells from Torchy to go with it.

I'm also keeping an eye on Amazon for a sale price for the Olight R50 Pro seeker - seems I read this thread a few days too late and missed the lightening deal for £85 a few days ago.

If it's of any interest to anyone waiting for special offers or price reductions on Amazon, there's a pretty useful website:
camelcamelcamel.com
It gives a price history of most items available on Amazon, and most useful, you can save an item you're interested in and configure a target price. If the item goes below your target price, it'll automatically email you letting you know so you don't miss it.

It also allows you to differentiate between Amazon supplied and Amazon Marketplace suppliers.

My BLF A6 died recently, god knows what was done to it but it was cross threaded/bent and just would not work.

It was one of my favourites and I'll get another.

The Q8 looks tempting though too!

Anyone know of a charger that will take button top 26650's?

My current charger takes my flat top 26650's but the buttons don#t make a connection. I got them from Battery Boy and I have sent him a mail asking for recommendations but not had a response yet.

5500mAh!

Great in my working again C8!

A C8 taking 26650's rather than 18650's?
I can't confirm as I'm not sure I've got any button tops, but I'd be surprised if they won't fit in a Lii-100 or 202.

Can the thread masses recommend me a small torch?

Rules:
18650-powered
Palm-sized-ish
Good for 'showing the way' in pitch black open countryside.
Up to 5 hours use from one charge.

I'd prefer if it was sold by or supplied by Amazon.

I’m struggling to think of or see anything that I believe is better than the Klarus XT11GT that I have (apart from other XTs).
The Imalent DN70 is too expensive, but still a great flood, which is at least equalled by the cheaper Klarus G20L, albeit from the specs and photos I’ve seen.
Those, and the Olight R50 are all 26650s, and even the S30R II just doesn’t really stand out, for me.
