I was in Curries / PC World tonight and was seconds away from walking out with one until i remembered there is some sort of announcement tomorrow?

What do we think the release of the 3rd iPad will do to the 2nd residuals?

I'm not sure what you want people to say here?

Are you asking if we think that the release of a newer and better version of the iPad, and thousands of iPad2 then flooding the used market, will have a negative impact on the used vaue of the current model?

If so, then yes, I think it will.

I didn't mean the used market. I meant new ones that will clear the way for the 3rd revision.

A little wound up tonight are we not?

Well, that's not 'residuals' then, is it? I reckon they'll drop by £100, but they won't last long as Apple tend to run the stocks down pretty well prior to a new release.

I knew what you meant so I'm not sure why you are getting awkward replies, last year the iPad 1 dropped to £299 alongside the release of the ipad2. I am tempted to get another iPad2 for that price !

Such is the way of PH at times.

I had an iPad before but sold it due to lack of use but it was in the early days of the iPad 1 and there wasn't really that much to do with it.

Now the whole family can find something to do with it, i have a 4 year old that is able to use it for some games / educational stuff, i can put it on the back of the seat and play a film on long journeys through the car's audio ic an use it for work, the wife can use it to spend any money i thought i had left.

I want one now but i'll kick myself if i buy one and the price drops by £100.

I'll see how the next few days go.

David.

Me too. I'm itching - nearly bought on Sunday but I just know I'd be wasting £100 for the sake of waiting a week or four.

The next debate I'll have with myself will be - do I buy the cheaper 2 or the new 3... silly

Yes, the argument will be that you can have a 3 for what you would have paid for a 2 anyway.... We both know what will happen.

I am thinking they may keep the 2 as is, and price the 3 a bit higher. Might be wrong though, so guess we will see tomorrow

I thought the latest word was the announcement isn't going to be for the iPad3 but for a higher resolution version of the iPad2, echoing the disappointment of the 4S biggrin

(which then went on to sell stloads).

iPad 2 for £299 would be a bargain but the iPad 3 will have new bits smile

Im holding off buying iPhone 4s and iPad until i see the new iPad 3/HD.

granted the iPad2 should drop by £100, but will the new iPad be worth the extra £100.

i think the iPad 2s will only be 8gb, but it will all go on the price.

(went from iPhone 3gs to Samsung Galaxy2, granted SG2 is better than 3gs, but really miss some features)

This would go against everything they (Apple) have done before - they'll price the iPad3/2S/HD/whatever the same as the 2, but might keep the 2 at a lower price point.

It matters not as long as it has that screen.

You could be right though as it looks like it won't have any major redesign.
