So had this thing what a week? Loving it so far. Ok there's nothing all that new, just more of the same software wise. But the hardware is impressing. It's so quick and fluid. Safari is lighting, app switching is butter, even the shonky fb app works a treat. That thing used to cripple my old 4.

The reason for the lack of queues at the O2 shops was probably because they were charging a lot more for the phones in store than ordering online.
I had the choice of paying £299 for a 32gb online or £369 in store, I took the cheap alternative. I suppose a lot of people preferred to pay the cheaper price and wait.
Really? I know the tariffs weren't the same ( no 2gb tarrifs) but I paid 159 for the phone for 1gb data, unlimited everything else and 31 a month. Same as online.

Anyone's phone very warm after using it for a small amount of time? My 5 is MUCH warmer than the 4 I have used for the past 2 years.
Yeah mines does I think it's down to the back being metal so it conducts heat more.

Better life improving by the day though.

Even tho' Orange took my money, increased and changed my tariff to an iPhone one but told me that they had not ordered me a phone I am still getting regular texts to say that they are sorry and that they will tell me when the phone is on it's way and thanks for my patience.

I had told them not to bother when I found out that a phone had not been ordered but it took them another week to put me back on my original contract and 2 weeks to give me my money back.

Nice to keep getting the texts though.

So tried to upgrade to something else yesterday and the chap on the phone came up with a very good tariff with loads of extras on a HTC One S and then finds that the phones are not only out of stock but that they are not making them anymore. He then tries to get me to be interested in other phones at a far higher cost.

Really not impressed with Orange after 18 years of being their customer.

Seems like all the networks have struggled with with launching the iPhone but Orange set my new contract up in minutes and I walked out of the store with my brand new 5 so I have nothing but praise for them up to now.

o2 on the other hand, what a shower.

Still don't have the £249.99 in my account which they took in error mate. I am now on day 12 - it's driving me up the fking wall.

I'm new to iPhones, so haven't got a previous version as a benchmark, but I'm finding the battery life quite disappointing. I've come from a Galaxy S3 and I'd say this has about 50 - 70% the duration of the Samsung.

Mainly use it for email, music, and a bit of web browsing. Usage between handsets is about the same (ie. I haven't changed what I do with the phone).

How does GPS work on it? It seems there's a little arrow at the top that appears when you're using a GPS enabled app, but does it self-detect requirement and turn itself off when not needed? (I'm used to an on/off toggle on Android).

As I can't see many other complaints I wonder if it's to do with the 4G ? Guess it's worth trying in 3G mode for a few days to see if it improves..

PS. The Optus 4G rocks...

Not too sure who asked for the functionality of 28mb upload on a phone, though you can post pictures to Facebook pretty fast! smile

Impressive speeds there !

Re the battery life (and if you're new to iphones) have a look around for guides as there's a number of things you can do to improve the situation which are on by default and need turning off!

The GPS only turns on when needed (i.e. Maps, Navigation) but I have found the location based reminders turn it on so they can drain the battery really quickly.

Battery life on my 5 seems to be on the poor side to me. Clearly I'm playing with it more, so I'll wait and see but so far it has not been impressive at all.

I'm glad I fecked them off tbh. I'd recommend Orange.

And they never bloody work! Tried them several times and it's failed on each and every occasion.

I find the brightness absolutely destroys battery life. I have it on a middling setting now and it lasts just as long as my old 4 did. We really do need a break through in battery tech!

brightness is what was killing mine.. yesterday i forgot to bring my charger to work and was worrying if i would have enough power to last the day, used it as normal with the brightness turned down and i had 40% by the time i went home... my old 4s wouldnt have managed that.
