Is it free? I might finally upgrade to 6...
Free, and ad free too as far as I can see so far.

Slow it down compared to what? If 5.x, then I've not noticed anything drastic but have not really used it. I just installed it on my wife's old 3GS after I dropped my old 4 in a bucket of water biggrin Anyway, it seems OK (slower than a 4/4S/4 of course) but I don't use it much (I got a "normal" cheap Nokia candybar phone which I now use).

You could take the offer (if cheap) and if you find it too slow, sell on?
Sorry, rather than slow it down perhaps I should have said does it ruin the phone!!

I've read a couple of reviews that seem to say they perform better on ioS6 than on 5 but even then some people have stated 6 has screwed up their phone.

Perhaps I'll just suck it up and get a 4 off the bay. Just need to find a decent seller!

I have a 3GS with IOS6 and it does slow it down and reduces battery life. Other than that its fine thanks. ;-)

Perhaps another difference between 'those people' and yourself is that they choose to post in threads that are interesting to them rather than whether they belong to a particular gang or not.

You may choose to only read and post in Apple threads for some reason but I suspect most of 'those people' don't really give it that much consideration and simply choose to post whenever they think they can contribute something. The fact you even think about whether you should post in a thread or not depending on whether it relates to a particular manufacturer suggests you believe this is all tribal; that we all post here under the flag of a particular manufacturer. Perhaps if you peared out from the Apple bubble you might see that's not the case.
Give it a rest, it won't help. If you have had not-so-supreme experiences with an Apple product, or worse, had very good experiences with a competing product, you're an anti-apple-fanboy and should be banned from Apple threads.

Is it worse than iOS5 on the 3GS or actually better? My 3GS slowed down noticeably on iOS5, didn't really notice a step down in battery life though (although I already had to charge it by the evening).

Well, you are wrong on that count. I said I don't troll other OS threads. Very big difference. I have different gear, (android tablet, windows 7 machine, apple gear including OSX, crap LG phone), however, I feel I can help folks with regards to apple stuff, and do so on a very regular basis mainly because it is my everyday stuff. You seem to think I only like apple, or only go on apple threads. You are so very, very wrong on that score. I have said on many, many occasions I could not care less what device you like or use. It is of no concern of mine. What I do find annoying are the usual faces who seem to seek out certain threads and basically troll. It happens all the time, (only Apple threads funnily enough). There are various types of troll. Oddly, by simply mentioning that apple maps is not the only one with errors it seems to have caused some upset. Who'd have thunked it.

Google Maps is indeed in the App Store, thanks for the heads up.

So far the UI is pretty laggy (iPhone 5), but it does include everything the old iOS Google Maps did, plus Navigation which is a surprise. The UI is a bit nicer in general, it just needs to run smoother.

Overall a much better Google Maps than iOS 5 Maps.

If you don't like the podcasts app, remove it, then podcasts will be back in the music player again.
Wish I'd known that before. The native Podcast app is utter crap, not surprising it's rated so badly in the app store. I downloaded Downcast which in contrast is excellent but you still couldn't play podcasts in the native music player (and therefore in other apps like Nike+).

Google maps looks very good so far.

Streetview was available on the webapp anyway.

It wasn't as easy to use as it is in the app.

Yes, your definition of troll seems to be "anybody who criticises Apple".

And I now remember why I stopped bothering with Apple threads a couple of months ago.

It really isn't. I will critisise anyone who says something that isn't true, or someone who has double standards. I could not care less if you don't like this, or would rather use that. Could not care less.

You haven't been on any apple threads? Well, every cloud, and all that.

I know, but the webapp gave nowhere near the good user experience the native app gave. Very unresponsive in navigation ("walking" in the streets so to speak). My parents couldn't get on with the webapp at all.

It's exactly this kind of flirting that gets so tiresome on these threads.

Be useful, be helpful, share your experience but try no to be too much of a antagonistic wker. This means you.

Antagonistic wker? Hypocrite much? rolleyes Go back and read the thread, and see who is being antagonistic. It was not me accusing anyone of being a fanboy, desperate, and the like.
