Xperia-P or Desire X?
Discussion
Made the move from Apple to android about this time last year, primarily because my old 2G iPhone gave up the ghost and I refused to pay Apple prices for a phone.
Thought I'd take a dive in to the world of Android with a very cheap Wildfire S and like it. Trouble is the Wildfire internal memory is shockingly small and lots of apps don't work well from the SIM card so thought I'd look around for something with more internal memory.
Both Xperia-P and Desire X are in same-ish ballpark price wise and in fact a little more than I'd ideally like to pay but seem to have reasonable spec.
Sony has 8mp camera and 16GB ram while the Desire has 5mp and 4GB. I've no massive need for lots of memory 4GB might just be enough 16 would be plenty.
So which to choose? Sensible money seems to be on the Sony but is there a reason I might want to consider the Desire?

The problem with the Wildfire is that it really is a budget phone.
The iPhone is expensive, but new high-end Android phones aren't that far off the mark (admittedly with a lot more functionality though).
The low-end phones always feel like "just not there" imho. The lowest you can go without diminishing the user experience imo is the HTC One V, and that's about twice the price of your Wildfire, albeit a lot bigger screen, double the resolution, much better processor, newer version of android and about 8x the storage space.
HTC made a big mistake in the past imho by putting so few on board memory for apps. 512MB is just ridiculous.
Anyway, what's your budget? Up it to little over the £ 200 mark and the One V and Samsung Galaxy S Advance come into reach...
Edit: sorry, apparently the Desire X is the more expensive phone, I think that's about right.

Zespak - absolutely agree about the Wildfire S and it was deliberately chosen as a budget stop gap while I decided if I liked Android. It's proven itself very well even with it's terrible memory capacity but has taught me I don't need to be part of the Apple road train.
So it looks like so far I have 1 vote for the X and one for the P
Budget is around £250 but obviously I'd like to pay less but not drop down to the Wildfire levels of memory (and really that's all that bugs me about it screen size is OK for what I use).

I would avoid any sony xperia device. I had nine replacements over 2 years, this even included a free upgrade from an x10 to an arc(which was no better). Thats like almost a new one every two and a half months.
Software wasslow never really updated and had all the built in bloatware.
Utter junk.
Camera was ok though and thank God I had insurance!

I've had 3 Xperias now, all have been fine. the OH has had 2, again, no issues. The problem you can face if you have one faulty handset the networks tend to replace it with a refurbished one, which they have "fixed" the same issue on. Unfortunately, their skils at repairing tend to leave much to be desired.
