Both my N4 and N5 needed charging twice a day. Bought an LG G2 on a black friday deal from Vodaphone, unlocked it, rooted and put Cyanogenmod on it and it's great. I almost miss Lollipop but the all day battery more than makes up for it. Can't quite bring myself to sell the N5 jut yet though!
Well, after my hasty email to the guy I bought a replacement battery from to which he kindly sent another, I removed and reinstalled the new Gmail app and battery life is pretty good, with wifi on and left pretty much collecting mail and messages it will last somewhere near 2 days. Ive always charged it every night since new.Replacing the battery is not difficult, just needs a good torx head screwdriver, small flat blade, plastic spatula to open the case and a hairdrier to soften the glue holding the battery in.
T5 is the correct size. They have to be an exact fit as to not round them off, they dont feel like they are undoing at first but they do come out!
I got a supposed T5 in the battery kit but it resembled a badly formed hash of a torx/phillips that would never have undone the screw in a million years.

Where do I start... Since the lollipop update my phone is slowly getting worse and worse. Solved the poor battery life with a delete and reinstall of mail app, but now it's really pissing me off
Camera. Take more than 3 or 4 photos and it shuts down. Have to reboot the phone.
Signal. When the battery gets to 40% the signal starts dropping out. It returns briefly and then does it again repeatedly.
I miss phone calls and get texts 6 hrs later. Voice mail, well I found 2 messages I didn't get told of. The signal also drops from full to no service when it feels like it and doesn't search to reconnect.
Basically it's not being good at anything at the moment. Im seriously considering replacing it. Google have really fked up with this update, there are many others with the same issues yet they seem to doing nothing about it. I'd gladly go back to the previous version. My phone still worked then....

Rubbish. Try using a Motorola Atrix 4G, now that's proper ancient (in smartphone terms... just over 4 years old, unless someone is still using a 1st gen iPhone?)
Might be worth looking at a custom ROM? Assuming the phone isn't faulty...
Btw, has anyone here actually tried replacing the screen on an N4? I got a replacement a few weeks ago, but the digitizer didn't function. And it looks like I'm not alone either... http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/help/digit...

I've replaced a screen. I did the whole screen and frame though to make it easier. First one that arrived was faulty. Took a while to get a refund but did in the end. Second from different eBay seller came from the same southall warehouse as the first but worked fine and I'm still using it nowMight be worth looking at a custom ROM? Got so fed up with it messing around, whether it being a duff battery or something more sinister I went out and bought a new phone.
Saying that, I liked the Nexus and have stuck with LG and bought a G3s. Perhaps a srep backwards? Not sure but seems a nice bit of kit and at least means I may get the calls and texts on time. The early android 4.4.2 is on it, tbh the old mail app is better!

The LG G3 should get an update to lollipop very soon. Or already if you are on a Vodafone version.Saying that, I liked the Nexus and have stuck with LG and bought a G3s. Perhaps a srep backwards? my Mrs has got the LG G2 very nice bit of kit indeed, almost prefer it to my Nexus4. May put the GPE rom on it for her one day.
I've spent a while swapping stuff over and tbh theres nothing in them. The new phone feels nice and quick. Plus not missed any texts or calls yet.... Stuck a 32gb micro in it for £15 so more memory already.
LG can be bought for £199, what's a new nexus 5 start at? Looked at Motorola G but preferred the LG as they were who made the original 4.

I keep mulling over whether to replace my Nexus 4.
In all honestly it does everything I need I just fancy a new toy.
I've been tempted by an iPhone just for a total change but one thing I seriously love about my 4 is the RGB notification LED as combined with Lightflow I just don't know of a better way to be able to chuck the phone a few feet away and tell at a glance who/what is trying to get hold of me and how.
My concern with LG, HTC, Samsung and the likes is the sheer amount of st they apparently put on their handsets.
Any suggestions on what might be a sensible replacement?

The Moto X is a pretty pure device isn't it?
The OnePlus One has Cyanogen which I think is brilliant, some good extra features over regular Android but no crap ones as far as I can tell.
I think it's pretty easy to put stock Android onto the One M8 too, that would make an excellent phone. Not sure it's fully compatible with Lightflow though.
