I've got one. It's not just a great dual-band (2.4GHz and 5GHz simultaneously) router with great signal strength - it's also an art.

And let's face it, who wouldn't want a router that's an art?
Conversely I love my Airport express as it's so small and simple in design yet still packs a massive punch in wireless performance.

Same wireless problems at our house: poor range and drop-outs in the upstairs rooms (we don't have a typical PH mansion, so it's only about 6m away). For phone, iPad, Macbook and PC.

So I used inSSIDer to check the actual signal strength and the signal really plummets as I'm halfway up the stairs. To about -73dBm, far lower tham the signal from several neighbours.

Seems the SuperHub (built by Netgear) has poorly designed antennae (according to knowledgeable posters on the VM support forum).

As others have said they are utter ste.

Turn it onto modem mode and then use a stand alone wireless router.

Yes, this is what I've done too. Wireless was unusable in my house when they "upgraded" me to a Superhub.

I still have issues sometimes when connected to my works VPN and sending lots of traffic it loses the connection and I have to reboot it to get it going again

I'm genuinely thinking of getting the Asus in a few weeks (Virgin is due here tomorrow) and also using one of these on the other side of the house (that I actually have in front of me at the moment):

They've received some good reviews. Anyone care to share their experience?

It's just basically for people plugging directly into it as the wifi performance is terrible. Need to mess around with the channels to get a stable connection if that hasn't already been said.

I did all of the channel options - using inSSIDer to see what channels were over/under-used. Didn't help at all with my SH wireless range problems.

Scrap that. No engineer today. They ask the dates I'm free stating an engineer can make those dates, they then book a visit for next week. tts.

That happened to me - I thought I had booked a Saturday, that's what their system seemed to indicate, only to find them ring me to tell me that, No, it was booked for my second choice!

Exactly the same here.

My old router is in the lft. The superhub is in the middle of the house. Despite this all my wifi devices get a stronger signal from the old router.

It's not called the Superdud or SuperPup for nothing.

Is there then any way for me to just use the Asus router? I want the setup next to the Test Socket to be as simple as possible without the pooperhub. It's not essential but if the settings can be replicated I'd be happy as wiring can be tucked away but then I'd have 2 routers laying in the hallway.

I do the same and have done since being 'upgraded' to the SuperHub just over a month ago. I was having some issues with it regularly dropping the connection to my router but these seem to have disappeared in the last week or so.

Nope, the only modem they supply is the Superhub.

I've been onto the helpline, but because my question seems to be off script the nice people in India can't help.

TIA
When I had Virgin, I had problmems that India couldn't sort ( and that was before superhub). In the end I used the e mail complaint form on the web page and got results. However I did find at the end that there was no response ,although tech services advised contacting them rather thatn the ( no so ) help desk .

My Superhub has been installed and has surprisingly been working fine for the last hour. Or have I spoken too soon?

Mines been in a couple of weeks now with zero issues., has helped that almost immediately I got a mail telling me they had doubled my speed, which I knew was coming at some point due to regional upgrades, and sitting here on my nexus 7 via wifi and carrying out a speed test its registering almost 20meg so I'm happy enough with that.

I've had no major issues with mine either. I am getting Wifi drops every now and again when using my phone to connect and I'm also have the dreaded YouTube issue which is affecting quite a lot of people (YouTube just keeps buffering every 5 to 30 seconds on a wired or wireless connection)
