All these androids are making me want to have a play with my partners phone more and more. I think he would kill me as its slow and enough already.

Animated weather on my home screen, so it changes a lot
Nice to see some variation, is it an iPhone 5? How's the jailbreak hanging in there?
Tried to do some customisation on a colleagues iPhone 4 but it slowed it down no end frown.

As for your partners' android phone, see if you can get novalauncher on there (what phone is it?), it often runs smoother than the stock launcher.

Don't live wallpapers shag battery life? I've avoided using them so far...
I've had them on for a while, (earth HD), didn't notice the battery-life shagging too much tbh.

I like my home screen uncluttered. I don't see the need for a weather widget when I can look out a window.

Erm yeah, I have downloaded all the bits on the site. Can't figure out how to apply it all, do you have to do it all individually?
No idea, I saw the Wallpaper and it wasn't high enough res for my phone. frown

The pics in the zip files are really low res. Not sure where you are supposed to get it from. Given up now.
Hmm, the one here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/opp8lsh6hbtut3q/24.png

Is 1440x1280, which is perfect for a Nexus 7/SGS3/HTC One S, but it's too small for a new full HD phone.

Anybody got a good source for wallpapers that are -at least- 1920 TALL? frown Seems like it's still slim pickings, unless you go for pictures, but even then sources seem limited.

With respect, you would have to look VERY hard to see the difference between a wallpaper for a 720 device v's a 1080 device on a screen that small.

And before you say you can easily spot it, most 720 wallpapers IME are just upscaled from an even lower resolution, hence look gash even on the devices they were "designed for".

smile
I probably can't, but I've got a 1080p display and I want to use it, I think that makes sense? biggrin

And as for your second comment, exactly! Loads of 1920x1080 images look gash already, and my phone will upscale them some more.

Just replaced my iPhone with a Galaxy Note - what a brilliant phone! Latest wallpapers here :

Nice photo's, but those widgets look gash imho! (I know the app one is a stock one).

For the weather widget, take a look at "beautiful widget" for one (took a quick screengrab from mine):

For the open apps (don't have one like that), I think Minimalistic Text could pull it off.

Actually, all of those are stock Samsung IRC, stunned every time at the ugliness of the widgets Samsung has the nerve to deliver with their phones.

Agreed. Actually the ugliness of Samsung's whole UI was a major part in turning me off them. Its cartoony, inconsistent, garish and just plain ugly. Features for features sake. Shame as I still think the Note 2 was the best all round phone I ever had other than the horrific UI and too big.
Too big? Isn't that the entire point of the phone? It's nothing more than an upsized S3 biggrin Just like the original Note was an S2 XXL.

Well, the good thing is that you can solve the UI look by just a launcher. I love nova launcher, just for the fact it makes me "fix" the 4x5 grid into a 5x6 grid for example. Add to that the better look/easy to apply icon packs,...

I like the stock android on my N7, but it bothers me that I can't adjust the number of homescreens for example. The UI on the Oppo Find 5 is ugly as well, it's my only and biggest gripe with the phone, but it's completely fixed by Nova Launcher.

Honestly, if it's THAT easy to change your UI look (it's no harder than changing a wallpaper imho), it's hardly an argument against a phone. I just think it's stupid on Samsung's side, as people see the phone in test like that and think: that looks gash.

I disagree that you can replace the entire GUI with a launcher. That's just the launcher you replace, not the rest of TouchWiz, i.e. the Notifications bar, the apps (the gallery is just garbage, the calendar is ugly, I could go on), the icons in the bar, and more stuff that a launcher will not change.

It seems a common misconception that just sticking Nova or some other launcher onto a TouchWiz or Sense phone will immediately make it stock, it doesn't.

You can eradicate TouchWiz, but not without rooting and a custom ROM, which is far too technical / intimidating for most of the population to attempt doing.
Agreed. Changed all the apps as well on my S2 (gallery app on the Oppo is MUCH better), the notifications never bothered me. We agree that the stock experience is ok, the interface looks terrible compared to other phones/stock.

I tried that on my Nexus 4 (pixel rain) but found the frame rate drops whenever the "splash" effect occurs. I removed it, as it was too distracting. Weird, because you'd think the N4 would have more than enough grunt to do something like that without stuttering.

I quite like "Under the Sea" Live Wallpaper but it also stutters when returning back to the home screen.
yes

Just downloaded it, measly 10 raindrops, glow, "touch" effect, "splash" effect, framerate drops on the Find 5 (Snapdragon 600)!

Had to size them down to fit in the <2MB bracket.

Wallpaper is one I got from the "HD wallpapers" app.

Novalauncher, 5 x 6 grid, "Stark" icon pack

Widgets LRTB:
Beautiful widgets clock
Google Now
Beautiful widgets battery
Simple calendar widget
Keep

Love the stark icon pack, quite "expensive" for some icons but they look nice and flat, fits well with the google "holo" design language.

Can anyone figure what phone I've got? smile Its kind of hard since I've changed a lot of things.

Deffo Android, but that's a given :P.
Unless you're rooted, you're not running a Nexus device.
The icon pack is DC Iconz so could be any phone.
I'm guessing a Sony of some sort?

I fancy something a bit more jazzy for mine, but I don't much like photographs of dog/girlfriend/whatever.

Something like a pattern like the typical stock wallpapers you get on the phone, but I'm bored of all mine.

Any ideas? I fancy something with a bit of green or blue.
Don't know what your phone is, but what about the regular nexus wallpapers?
Really "pops" on phones with great displays, like the Nexus, HTC and the like

Nice! What icon pack is that?

I've been running the same layout for a couple of months now, just changing wallpaper regularly.
