Only had mine since Friday, but in the time I've had it it's been superb. No issues connecting to WiFi (picks up hotspots quicker than my old Xperia S or iPhone 4) and it normally stays connected fine, battery is an improvement on the other two handsets and the screen is utterly jaw dropping.

Mine is an unbranded model from Phones 4 U.

In the couple of days I used mine before returning it, taking an age to connect to wi-fi seemed to be standard. That's without any of the location based wi-fi stuff turned on, and within a couple of feet of the router.

ETA: my iPhone 5 and my g/f's Nexus 4 have no such issue; unlock and they connect pretty much instantly.

Mine is quite the opposite. Connects to the WiFi as soon as I'm near home then when the TV is on, offers to "throw" movies and photos to big screen. My Xperia Z is on Three and has very little bloat wear, perhaps something is interfering with it?
If anything was interfering with it, it didn't interfere with either my old iPhone 4, my new iPhone 5 or my g/f's Nexus 4.

Not sure that any Xperia Z comes with more bloatware on different networks; mine was unlocked on O2 anyway, so no bloatware other than what Sony themselves put on it.

But, as I said at the beginning of my post: I sent it back for a refund. It wasn't something I was going to persevere with sorting when I didn't get along with the phone.

Had mine coming upto a month now and still having the occasional wi-fi issue with it (it definitely doesn't pick up a signal as well around the house as my old HTC Desire HD) but loving everything else.

The screen, walkman output, camera, build quality, design and battery life (with stamina mode) are all superb IMHO.

I'm going to decide over this weekend whether I'm keeping mine or sending it back
I'd give it a few days to get used to - Apple's hardware is still a level above (my S3 is every bit as poorly constructed as I'd feared), but iOS really looks and feels old and restrictive now.
It's had a few days - during which I've kept returning to the iPhone. It's probably just habit now, but I don't want to change so the Sony's being returned tomorrow.
Lol, Apple shock! It's so funny when I read this, I was EXACTLY the same when I got my Galaxy S3. It's really weird that long-term use of the iPhone then going to Android is so difficult, but it really is. I persevered though, and I am SO glad I did - Android is just so far ahead of iOS now, and I love all the little touches it has. Mind you , it took me a couple of weeks to decide I was keeping it, and about 2 MONTHS to really, really 'get' Android.

You say that as if there's only one correct way - my iPhone 5 deal was almost exactly the same as my Xperia Z deal so there's no cost difference; why not go for the one I prefer? wink

To be honest, playing with my girlfriend's Nexus 4 I rather like Android; it's why I ordered the Xperia Z in fact. I still like the Nexus 4; it feels like Android works with it. The Xperia didn't.

Not at all, merely pointing out that I felt the same as you - except I persisted a little longer and decided to keep it. iPhone is a fantastic phone, just a shame iOS is so dated now.

S4 is in the shops imminently... maybe that will tempt you? smile

I doubt it - I've just got an iPhone 5 on a 2yr contract and I'm not going to buy that out!

I've had mine almost a month now, and only one minor issues. It seems to lose its contacts whenever I switch it off, and won't resync.

No issues at all with wifi, if anything it's better than my GF's iPhone 5.

The screen is amazing. Camera is very good outside in good lighting, but not quite as good in dark places. The video recording is great aswell.

It's taking me a while to get used to android after years of iPhone, but pretty glad I made the switch.

The Walkman software is also very good, but I find it very quiet compared to my old iPhone 4s?

I'm used to the size already

Mac software is ok, but not a patch on iTunes

That is good! I only got 17.22Mbps download using the WiFi at home! HSPA gives me 3.67Mbps download. Interestingly, upload speeds are very similar, 1.7M over WiFi and 1.5M over HSPA.

Help me please. I have the Dropbox app on my phone that I would like to use the pictures from as my wallpaper, how do I do this?

Don't know exactly, I don't use Dropbox.

But...

There should be an option to download the picture from within the Dropbox app. Once it's downloaded, open it and then go to the options menu and select 'Use As' -> Wallpaper.

I got my xperia z the day it came out, and I'm still very impressed, far better than my families GS3s. Battery life is roughly the same as any other smart phone

I have to agree with previous comments about walkman, it's on a par with the iPhone's iPod however even on full volume it is quiet.

The camera is good, but only once you've played about with the settings, I find I get better pictures on burst mode

The phone is all about the screen, the colours are not as bright as the Samsung, and I haven't got to watch a hd film yet however it's much better than apples retina display for games and general internet browsing

I had a look at one in the shop today, first time I've seen it (did have it pre-ordered), looked nice enough, although still possibly a tad large for my preferences (yes I have a Note 2, but I think I'll be parting with it as I find it annoyingly large), and I really can't tell the difference between a 720/768P and a 1080 on a screen at this scale (and I have pretty decent eyesight), definitely the law of diminishing returns there.

Overall it did look quite nice. I'd have had it if it had Vanilla Android on it.

Are people having to recharge theirs throughout the day? Mine eats the battery when I've 4g turned on.

Also what great things have you found it can do?

Also what cases have people gone for and did you bother adding an additional screen protector over the plasticky shatter proof thing that that Sony install as standard?

Don't have 4G here so can't comment, but generally it's on 100% when I pick it up in the morning, and when I've finally finished playing with it and I feel like going to bed it goes on charge again, haven't had an issue seeing out the day with it tho. Never had 4G but have heard it eats batteries for breakfast so can't say I'm shocked, I stock with wi fi and it's fine.

In terms of cool stuff it can do, I take it you're looking for something more sophisticated than drop it in water for 30 mins and watch it work after? because that is the big thing with this phone for me.

No 4G for me, and mine lasts 24 hours easily. In fact, I've been up (so the phone has been off charge) nearly 24 hours now and it's still on 55%. If I turn Stamina Mode on it reckons it can eek out another 2 days...
