Mine updated to MM a week or so ago, and recently power usage has been woeful - seems to be wifi related according to Battery in settings. It can go from 100% to empty in 5 hours.

Mine is exactly the same. Half a day and it's dead. Brand new battery installed and no change...MM is a duffer so far!

MM on mine has made a massive difference to battery usage. I'm getting 2 days out of a charge now instead of a single day.

The biggest change seems to be how much power the Facebook app is using. That used to eat power but now seems to use hardly any

No change for me. Makes the phone unusable really as I am a pretty heavy user frown

The iPhone lasts me a full day (and rarely goes below 30% charge) - the nexus lasts me until 3-4pm.

My 5 has been great for over 2 years now and been fine to use bar one screen replacement due to smashing it. I stupidly opted for a 16GB model trying to save money (after smashing my Nexus 4) so space has been the only problem.

The 5X reviews are pretty ho-hum. I like the look of it, love that it has better specs and a fingerprint scanner but I do think it is poor value against the Motorolas, OnePluses, Wileys and the 6P.

Looking at costing over 2 years, it now seems that unless a full on budget or old phone is selected, you're generally looking at £700-800 rolled up cost whether you take a contract or buy sim-free and use giff-gaff or similar. The sim free option might result in better data allowances but ultimately the costs are in the same ballpark.

I've used giff-gaff with sim free Nexus phones for almost 5 years but I'm now considering picking up a phone on contract (24mths, 1-2GB data and hopefully free EU usage). Given the choices available, I'm leaning toward things like the Sony Z5, LG G4 and Nexus 6P. The Nexus is probably my favourite bar its mahoosive size. I guess I'd have to get used to 'enhanced' Android on the Sony and LG.

5X just come into stock at Giffgaff £359 (32gb)

M8s was £299 (no stock) or M9 £449 so I've taken a punt. Will be loads better than the POS Sony I've had to put up with the last 2 years on T-Mob anyway.

Is the 5x better than a M9? Not from what I read yet similar price.

I like HTC sense to be honest.

The 5s size is the main reason I keep it - good to use as a phone, for speaking to people on.

I quite fancy the 5X, anyone got one yet? I have a Nexus 9 tablet so I guess the look and feel will be basically the same?

Just unwrapped it, it's lovely smile

Bare android, No apps (except Google), Fast.

Had to email my contacts from old phone to new and host photos on cloud though as no SD card and only a USBC-USBC lead, no biggie though.

Don't you synch to your google a/c ?

Normally when I get a new handset it does a really good job of restoring stuff.

For some reason my old contacts weren't showing on either of my Google accounts. TBH I'm a bit crap at this sort of thing. But I've got it working yay!

Interested to hear about battery life. Seen a couple of reviews online that suggest it's pretty poor (less than a day).

I won't be using this phone full time until early next month, running my old contract out before swapping the number over but happy to update when I know. Charged up very quickly though through the supplied mains charger.

Likewise, it always puzzles me when I see people mention losing stuff moving to a new handset.

I just punch in my gmail account and password and a minute or two later everything is synced.

I've selected everything I want synced in the settings, and not had a problem in that regard since I had an iPhone many years ago.
