Virgin media and Sky are a joke. I've just gone to Virgin from Sky after Sky decided to hit me with a bill of £120,no Sky Movies, no Sky Sports and middle of the range tv, phone, broadband, told them to ps off!!
Virgin are just the same though, they just keep slowly bumping it up, turning the screw tighter and tighter.
I've gone Sky, Virgin, Sky, Virgin again etc, sick of them all.

I've been with Virgin from the Telewest days so over 20 years. 99% of the time internet is superb however if it does go wrong and it's not a simple fix it can be a real pain and drag on for.... a long time....

I ditched the tv years ago and purchased a multiple tuner free view box. Never looked back however I do have Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Not interested in sport however ...

Talk Talk flyer dropped through letterbox the other day, they were highlighting these continuous increases and that their policy is that price stays fixed during lifetime of contract,

Surely if someone has their hub in modem only mode this wont happen on that hub ?

I assume as the radio is turned off then it disables the wifi.
Unless virgin do a sneaky firmware upgrade which enables it.

...and if further proof were needed as to what a shower of st Virgin media is, I closed my account over a month ago & they owe me 55 quid.

Apparently it takes 35 days to process a refund & then a further 14 days for a cheque to be sent.

Just because they can.

I don't see how this can possibly work. My "superhub" WiFi couldn't make it 20ft to my living room so it's going to be fk all use to anyone outside the house.

VM pretty much said they don't provide WiFi as part of the service we just had to accept it was st. That's why I'm no longer a customer.

Threatened to leave, but settled on dropping my bill from £90pm to £43. Now just have the basic TV package (Player?), basic phone and 100Mbit broadband. Could probably have saved a bit more by going freeview and taking another providers broadband, but this way was hassle free.
New V6 box is so much quicker than the old Tivo - Netflix and YouTube apps are actually usable.

It's a well known problem with the Virgin Superhubs. They are dire and so is their support.

Their support is on a higher plane of crap though. The people you speak to don't understand even the basics of how wifi/broadband works. They are simply non English speakers reading from a English script on a subject they don't understand.

Not had a problem with my new superhub. I can pick up wifi on the drive while the hub is against the back wall (don't ask) on an average house.

Not going to argue over the support thing from what I remember a few years back,however I must have one of the good hubs as I've never had a problem whatsoever with it.

Rang them today, noticed broadband price (100mb) had gone from £34 to £41 in two months.
Apparently a loyalty discount had run out and a price increase had kicked in, managed to get them down to £32 for 18 months.

Apparently it is. I was paying them £115 a month. They offered me around £90 for the same thing. I went off & did some digging around & found a VM package that I would have taken for £75. They said, oh, you can't have that, its only for new customers.

I left & went to BT

Line rental saver (one month free, a year paid in advance)
+
Fibre broadband + All the TV they do + Evening & weekend calls = £28 per month (18 month contract)

New TV Ariel installed for 65 quid

Delivered just after Xmas & I've already had my £95 cash back from Quidco and £100 prepaid Mastercard through the post from BT.

Not unhappy. smile

Not bad at all, my biggest gripe with my flat (beyond the stupid service charge) is that I only have a VM cable connection, no phone lines installed and no communal sky dish (we are not permitted to attach any either)

Put your phone on loudspeaker and get on with other stuff. Eventually you will hear the music stop and a human voice.

As Martin Lewis said on TV last night, price rises are a blessing in disguise. If in contract it gives you a month to renegotiate, or switch..
