Got my invite.
Has anyone installed it, decided they don't like it and deleted it?
If so, what was the aftermath?
It's just another 'window' on your googlemail 'folders'. If you delete something it's deleted, but if snoozed or marked done it's still in 'all mail' folder.Has anyone installed it, decided they don't like it and deleted it?

I tried "Mailbox" when it came out and after a week decided I didn't like it, so deleted it. It had created a whole load of new folders and re-organised everything, so took several hours to restore to what I had previously.

Having started playing with Inbox, and marking various groups of things as "Done", it also deletes them from your inbox in Gmail, keeping them all in All Mail only. Having not decided if I like Inbox yet, this feels like it is becoming a bit of one way street for me as if I want to go back to just using Gmail, I would either have to live with a shed load of my emails now not where I left them, or spend an age resorting things.
I am hoping that Inbox gets a little bit more user friendly. My main gripes are that I use multiple email addresses from Gmail and it doesn't seem as easy in Inbox to distinguish between them. Also, I have set up a Family group in Inbox, adding various family members and saying "do to all" or whatever it is, but there are still plenty of recent emails from these family member that have not been migrated across to the group bundle.
In summary, I think it has potential but I feel it is still too "beta" for me to rely on for my business and personal life 100%. Hopefully soon enough, it will be a bit more polished.

"Done" is exactly the same as hitting "Archive" in Gmail, but I appreciate that might take a bit of getting used to if it wasn't a Gmail feature you used.It doesn't remove any labels from the email, it only removes it from your inbox (not Inbox)

I'm not sure I like it.
No one has really done anything to make email better since it began, I don't really think it needs improving. If you can add folders at the root, and click the main inbox to see all mail, then that's fine for me.
Gmail is annoying (I still use it though!), the Mac mail.app is awful, all the 3rd party email apps I've tried are awful as well. Mailbox and Airmail were both crap.
Give me Outlook any day. I have a feeling that Inbox will be one of those google projects that has some good ideas, but ultimately doesn't take and is quietly dropped.

I think it's either being 'mis-sold' or misunderstood.
It's rather more than another email client - integration with other google services like calendar, Now, reminders, etc. are important features.
I'll probably still use the gmail web client when needed, but for day to day management of task, emails, etc I think Inbox is good (and promising too).

That's probably quite true, however it's still a clunky interface for email. It's great for the reminders and other tasks, but I just can't see it happening. Happy to be proven wrong though, and I'm going to keep using it for a while and hope that I start to 'get it'. And therein lies the rub. I never used the Archive "feature" in Gmail, more relying on using starred emails if necessary. I guess I will just need to get used to using this more. I need to wait to see if they sort out the glitch I mentioned previously about not collecting all my family emails up properly, then I should be able to make light work of getting the Inbox down to just my pinned items. Got about 20'000 emails in my Gmail so it could take a while if I have to do it all manually!
I find Archive very handy, but I am one of those who tries (but usually fails) to keep their inbox empty. It means I can get rid of things when I think I'm done with them, but can still dig them back out if I'm mistaken and do end up needing them (rather than needing to be certain before I delete them). It's worth pointing out that archiving something doesn't remove the labels, so anything labelled "Family" will still be accessible from both the "Archive" and from the "Family" labelGassing Station | Computers, Gadgets & Stuff | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
