Amazing that they've managed to make it more expensive than the dimmer switch.
It'll be half that during "Black Friday" rolleyes

Hue really does suck you in.

Right now, I've got both a filament bulb and a smart button ordered "just to see what they're like." I strongly suspect I will think they're pretty amazing and will wind up buying a couple more of each...

I think more or less this entire house has been kitted out on that gradual basis. Hate to think what it all cost...

I'm keen to hear what you think of the filament bulb, I've got a couple of places that I could use them

I have one for my hallway. Looks great, works great. I use it with the 'sunrise to sunset' hue lab formula to automatically light up every day when it starts to get lighter earlier.

Well, here are my opinions:

The filament bulb: Fantastic! Looks awesome. I've put in a hallway pendant which has a clear glass shade and it's just perfect for that. Because the light's direct, rather than diffuse, the patterns in the glass now show up on the wall like they are meant to.

The smart button: complete joke. I assumed that, because the UK ones come with a square backing plate rather than the US rectangle, that square would be the same size as a UK single-gang switch. Nope. It's smaller, 75mm square, vs. 85mm (83mm?). And it feels cheap and fragile. Suspect I will use the button on its own somewhere...

I'm a recent convert to hue (mainly for garden lighting so far), seems great but struggling to nail down how multi user geofencing works.

The coming home feature works perfectly for me but how do I set it to work for the OH when she arrives home after me? I haven't got around to setting her phone up with the app yet, is it just a case of repeating the same process on hers & it'll work?

dxg. . . how do you find the button’s functionality?

Scene selection is a bit fiddly. Cycles through five different scenes in the assigned room. I've set it up in my home office for the moment, and the plan was to use it as a prompt for when the movement sensor times out (i.e. when I'm still for 20 odd minutes typing away...). This room only has a day and night scene, so I guess I will set those to alternate.

The time base light selection is completely pointless, in my opinion. You can choose between that and scene setting, and as my scenes for this room are for different times of day rather than different activities, both configurations are basically the same.

Anyway, it's a very rubberised push and you have to push it surprisingly hard. I will say that, in its favour, the lights respond quickly to pushes, and the dimming feature is rather nice - very smooth. However, it alternates in direction: press and hold the first time and it dims, then the next time you press it will brighten, and so on. I can see that getting annoying if you want to dim, and then dim some more - there would have to be an intermediate additional press which would brighten things just a little.

Overall, I don't think I'll be getting any more and the search for a decent wall switch continues. For that role, the existing wall/remote switches are far, far superior.

Something very strange has been happening to my lights past 2 days. They are cycling in colours for a few seconds then stopping. Any ideas. Its like a disco. Ive turned the hue hub off at the wall and back on again

Thanks for that! Just grabbed a couple. And that seals the fate of the button - see my thoughts above.

Thank you ordered enough to add the switches to most rooms.

Next challenge is to find one of the switch covers that is not absolutely horrible to look at
