I'm trying to come up with a plan for outside lighting. There are some nice external Hue fittings, but we have a detached garage and I suspect the signal from the Bridge won't move that far.
Any thoughts on what my options are?
Garage is on a common MCB, so I could use EoP to get a network connection out there..

The other Hue bulbs act as relays so providing there's enough in the vicinity you shouldn't have connection problems.

That's the problem, I suspect there won't be any close enough to provide that relay..

Ive got this bizarre problem where my Hue bulbs randomly change colour to red. Ive tried cleaning the netowkr settings and no avail. This isnt an isolated problem from google.

Do you have any routines etc set up ?

I guess all you can do is delete & reinstall the bulbs - or if that doesn't work, wipe & reinstall everything

Is anyone using the GU10s? I was going to replace all the kitchen ones with Hue white ambience, however the blurb states they are only 250lm whereas the normal led ones I’m currently using are around 500lm. I know this isn’t the only factor so looking for some collective wisdom, are they noticeably bright/dim? Any experience lighting an entire room with them?

Can you put one of your existing bulbs in the garage to find out?

I can’t say what my other GU10’s were before, but for a 12ft sq room I have 8 Phillips arranged in an outer and inner square, they seem to do the job better, but it’s awfully tone depending; for example we like the sunlight to blue light feel, but somehow that doesn’t “feel” as bright as the softer whites.
YMMV however

Great, thanks. Assuming they pop up in the salsa I’ll probably take the punt, just wanted to avoid forking out to find out I have a darker kitchen as a result!

I have 18 of them in my kitchen - at about 1m spacing - they are fine - plenty of light.

I also have a couple of light strips but they are usually set to an accent colour and so aren't adding much.

Bit of a preemptive question on the assumption that there will be deal to be had in the coming weeks, I see they now have a new version of the colour GU10s which is smaller than previous and therefore guaranteed to fit in pretty much any fitting, but has anyone bought any of the starter kits from Amazon recently and could confirm which bulbs they ship with? The pictures still show the old type.

If I were to press the button on these then I think I'd want the new type as all my fittings are of the fire rated type (i.e. have the metal tube over) so I doubt the older type GU10s would fit?

Watching this too

2 colour bulbs are on offer at £81.77

I have one but need three but ideally I need 3 of the newer ones

Help - does such a thing exist.

I'm going to take the hue plunge come black friday. However the ceiling light which is a fancy led thing (dimmable) I want to control via the same interface i.e. Hue.

Is there a replacement for a normal on the wall dimmer switch? If not what are my options to control such a thing ?

Thanks

Lightwave is the expensive answer not sure if comparable with the hue app but it is HomeKit ready if you have an iOS device. All my hue lights are controlled via HomeKit rather than hue app.

You need an equivalent Hue bulb. As far as I understand Hue only controls Hue. You can use a Hue Dimmer or the new Button or control on your phone etc
