Quick question and probably a daft one but I’m not that savvy on “smart things” to be honest.

I have the following connected to my hue bridge.

Living room:
Lightbulb (white)
Hue iris
Lightstrip Plus

Bedroom:
Lightbulb
Hue Aura

Controlled via iPhone using the hue app.

My bridge is connected directly to a Virgin superhub 3. We have been having issues lately with the internet and sometimes the router loses connection with everything. Whenever this goes down I lose the ability to turn the lights on and off with the app.

Is there any alternative way to turn on and off the lights my when the hub goes down?
Could it be that when the internet drops your phone switches to 4G ,which obviously means you’ll lose you’re Hue connection too until the internet connection comes back? I know my iPhone will switch to 4G if there’s a problem with my internet connection

I can still control my lights with my Hue switches even if I have no hub connection or no internet connection

....good job as my Virgin connection is a bit rocky at times

Definitely a good time to pick bits up. There is a lot of deals on the outdoor stuff at the moment, but looking at reviews, it's quite naff, just a plastic case and a regular bulb. So may as well just buy the outdoor shade of your choosing and put in a bulb bought separately.

3x white ambiance GU10s for £39.99 is the best deal today, cheapest they've been at £13.33 each effectively. The IKEA Tradfri's are £12 each for the equivalent, so only £4 extra for the hues if buying 3 of.

Just kitting our my mother’s home so managed to get a 3m light strip and hub with 3 colour bulbs (replaces mk1 hub) for just over £100 in the deals this week. Now just need the motion sensors to come down.

Apologies for the delay,

That's weird, mine continue to work as long as my phone and the bridge are connected to the same network. No internet needed just a network connection. Of it's just the internet connection you loose can you try making sure your phone is still connected to the WiFi and therefore the local network. That should be sufficient to make them work with the app.

The various accessories like the dimmer switch, tap switch, motion sensors all connect directly to the hue bridge and will continue to work even without a network connection so are a good backup for total loss of the network or router.
When the router drops WIFI connection and my phone goes to 4g I lose all connectivity to the bridge.

So one of these will work when the network is down. Thats good to know and relatively cheap too. Can one of these control both rooms or individual light units or is it only set up to control one room?

Has anyone seen any deals on E14 colour bulbs?

Situation is I have ordered some new lights each of which needs 3 E14 bulbs, at regular price the bulbs will cost way more than the fittings!

You’re doing it wrong. Get the bulbs then the fittings GU10 fittings with 4/5 bulbs in should be banned!

There was defenitely a deal on e14s earlier on in the BF deals.

According to the deals section in my Amazon app there's some more Hue deals starting at midnight so defenitely worth checking what's on offer later.

I have just delved into the world of Alexa and Phillip Hue lighting. I picked up 2 x dots and 4 x hue colour bulbs for a start.

Loving it so far, it gives really great atmosphere in the sitting room and two dots working in stereo give off a far better sound than I anticipated!

However, I would really love to show my kids a "disco" or "storm" effect. Is this possible without having the hub?

Cheers!

To update this it would not let me add "2" sets to the basket (a set of 3 is in fact a 2 + 1 pack) but let me order the same thing twice no bother. Free delivery with Prime so on problem.

Just about to pull the trigger on the Philips Hue Lightstrip 3m Bundle [Base Kit + Extension] from above, could someone clarify if you require the bridge with this to work with a sonos play1 and alexa?

I’m slithering between Hive and Hue, I have Hive heating and the GU10 adjustable lights are currently at £119 for 10, which is a useful saving on Hue, even with the Black Friday deals.

Has anyone seen an objective comparison between the 2 systems

Cheers

I’ve nearly hue’d my kitchen to the hilt - 3 strip lights and 14 GU10s. Whilst the GU10s fit in the recessed ceiling lights, they don’t fit the lamp holders in the 2 strip lights, so have had to order some gu10 extenders!

My Hive hub seems slower to connect to the internet and I think needs to in order to control devices. My Hue hubs seem to be always available and don't need to connect to the internet to control things.

I have Hive heating and I can connect one Hue Hub to Hive but not both.

I have a few Hive bulbs and they work just fine....Hue just seems a bit better...my opinion others may think otherwise.
