I'm thinking about one for the landing too, it would save a fortune of the light being left on all bloody night! Kids....

My motion sensor arrived this morning - like all of the hue products is feels very well made and just works smile

I've got about 6 Lightify GU10's ( no Hue non RGB GU10's available ) - apart from having to buy a lightify hub so that I could update the firmware on the lightify bulbs so they would dim properly, I havn't had a problem.

I picked up an innr bulb from amazon a while back - 16 quid for a GU10 seemed reasonable - (http://www.innrlighting.com/en/ ) however they are just straight dimmable , no white adjust. The Lightify ones seem to be on offer with Amazon at the moment at around the same price so I'll probably get a few more of them.

I have bought some from Easybulb

they do RGB or white and the main reason is they do screw, bayonet, ses and are a lot cheaper!

Hue motion sensor released today . On amazon at £39.

Bought a few - think they will be ideal for lights on stairs and upstairs hallway outside the kids rooms.
Looks like £34.99 now.

Seems a bit steep to me. I've been using a pi zero with a PIR. This seems a nicer format though so I'll probably hope for a price drop at some point.

I use a Smartthings motion sensor. I have it on the landing outside the kids rooms, worked really well until the last Hue bridge update. I'll fix it when I have a moment, or more than likely i'll buy a Hue motion sensor.

I'd prefer to buy from Amazon but it says 1-2 months.

Where are you peeps getting yours from?

Amazon said that when I ordered. They have just emailed to change it to next week.

I was notified via an email from Philips HUE - went to Amazon store and it took a pre-order booking. Hence why i got some on launch day earlier this week.

So just picked up this at my local Currys: http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/smart-tech/smart-tech...

I didn't really pay attention to the packaging just that it was the new hub (currently have the old hub) and 2 white bulbs with changeable colour temperature (my last 2 are dimmable only but I paid £30 for bridge and 2 bulbs) and it included the wireless dimmer kit, bargain for £75!

Huelloween app was good fun yesterday. Matched with a Bluetooth speaker it entertained the trick or treat kids.

Gents may be worth a trip to John Lewis (my local is actually still called knight & Lee) I picked up the hue colour starter kit for £79.95 (E27 bulbs) it was the old hub but I'll sell that on or give it to someone but for 3 colour bulbs at £28 a bulb was too good to miss.

They also have the B22 bulbs but they were £109.95 for the old starter set.

interesting thread and glad to see im not the only one addicted to these things. i have quite a few around the house. in fact some rooms and two or three bulbs including some strips. looking to get a 2m strip on the underside of the stairs.

i would also like a nice big run of strip in a coving but thats 24m in total so i was interested in rading about the other cheaer stuff which is still compatible with the philips hue app. I want to get a the motion sensor and pair that to the coving strip and then that can act a nightlight for the kids. I havent really played around the alarms. im assuming that there is no way to control the apps from outside the home, ie if we are away and i have the lights to come on at a certain time of night?

Apps work anywhere. Also look at IFTTT and Wink.

My final ambiance bulbs have arrived. That's the house fully done bar the kitchen and bathroom which I'm happy to leave as is.

We need to move some bookcases and then I'm tempted to backlight them with the lightstrips in the alcoves.

thanks so much that wink looks amazing, interface looks much better than the philips hue app, turned the wifi off on my phone and tried it all out and set up groups. really good app works so well. just need to swap out a couple of GU10 bulbs above my front door and i can make them come on which will be really good when the kids come home from school.

This is a part of the kitchen that I have used the fls-pp hue compatible controllers with 'cheaper' RGBWW led strips.
I have arranged it all in levels - top, under cabinet (and inside glass display cabinet) and also underneath the granite on the peninsular (not shown).

I used the fls-pp controllers as they can drive 12v and 24v strips at longer lengths. As the whole kitchen was being done, I had the luxury of burying the wiring - it all fans out from the small loft hatch. The fls-pp saves the last setting so that the mains light switch can power them off and on.

The RGBWW are seen as two bulbs - colour and white - allowing you to have the standard white under cabinet look.

It is all now controlled by Hue apps (inc Hue Disco), Node Red (home automation) and Alexa

(Kitchen from DIY Kitchens, granite and flooring from local east sussex suppliers. Next job is to replace brown doors and windows :-))
