You can add another bridge. Other options (I think) are a Samsung Smart Things Hub or a DIY bridge based on a Raspberry Pi.
or Home Assistant
I've just ordered a Home Assistant Green. Seems like a good way of getting into it. And I should be able to use the zigbee usb stick that I bought for the never-implemented pi4 HA attempt...

Has anyone found a cheaper than normal source for colour light strip? I need 10m.
The one I use (alongside some Lidl sourced G10s (mised out on their strip)) is no longer available, however packaging is the same on this one aside from the brand name. Mixed reviews on this one.

On the subject of Matter. I needed to add a second hub to my system for range and number of bulb reasons. This is a total PITA with Hue requiring two accounts and two emails.

With Matter it all more or less just works, still needs some Hue faffing and you have to switch hubs to control via Hue app but in Google home the lights are all recognised across both hubs.

I’ve got 4 hubs in hue all on the same email/account.

Agreed the hue app isnt great but I use iConnectHue which is.

Agree - I've got 2 hubs on the same account.

Support is getting better, but not really there yet, but in the Hue app I can switch between hubs.

Doesn't that only work with in home control and you have to manually switch between them in the app?

I will get iConnectHue as agree the Hue app is not what it should be

FFS, don't tempt me into selling all my Hue off and starting again!

Likewise, but it's certainly a tempting option.

What annoys me is the various restrictions that Philips impose when using Hue with non-Hue hardware, even though its supposedly all zigbee compatible.

eg. For whatever reason my Amazon Echo can't see any devices on my Hue Hub that aren't from Philips. On the other hand, Google Home can 'see' them and control them, no problems.

And whereas obviously the Hue app can control them all, certain functions are blocked for the non-Hue branded lights. The clear idea is to push people to an all-Hue setup which given the size and scope of the market (not to mention Hue prices) is not really something I want to do. I'll probably investigate replacing the Hue hub with something that's more open, I just would miss the Hue app but I'm sure there are alternatives out there that are pretty much as nice to use.

Tempted to go all off line to control the smart house devices, currently all amazon echo, and try a Hubitat C8 after watching a review of new unit. But with Matter just kicking off I want to wait to see what other companies produce. What bridge hardware are you using to control you lighting etc?

The bds know I've got as many lights as I could possibly have, so now they're trying to get me on security: https://www.philips-hue.com/en-gb/products/smart-s...

Get Home Assistant and integrate everything...? That's my plan, anyway...

I’m planning to add a fair few of the Hue Milliskin spotlights to our extension.

We use Hue throughout the house including two sets of three Milliskin lights.

My plan is to add 12-15 of these lights ON A SINGLE CIRCUIT.

Is there a way of checking this would work, ahead of checking with my electrician?

Obviously some lights being dimmer than other - when all should be at full power - would be unacceptable.

These are the lights:

Each one is 5.7W. You can run hundred of Watts from a standard 3A lighting circuit so I think you are OK as long as you keep it below 50 or so bulbs.
For this use case wouldn't you be better off making the switch itself smart instead? Standard bulbs and one smart device rather than lots of very expensive smart bulbs?

I decided for the first time to buy some basic innr bulbs to replace a failed Hue one, and when adding it to the network it seemed initially to find it and activate it, it fails to work with Google Home properly - I thought google home would just update for any changes made to the Hue network?

Basically I was replacing one lamp bulb which is in a "room" of two lamps so normally I ask Google to "turn on sitting room lamps" and it worked fine with the Hue bulbs - now it seems to tell me it can't find anything.

Is this a compatibility issue or am I setting it up wrong?

I am getting to the point of returning the innr ones and just reverting to the more expensive Hue.
