Do all the Innr bulbs make a whining noise, or is it only the GU10s?

I'm using Hue bulbs indoors and Innr bulbs in the outside lights, but it looks like the Innr bulb at the back door is too far from the others so I'll need to put one in the house to bridge the gap.

Any tips on how to get it to pair with HomeKit? Works from hue app, but doesn’t connect to home kit if I add it either from the home app or the hue app!

I've got a selection of various Inner bulbs (e27, b22, e14) and I can't hear any of them whining. I returned the GU10 I had because at least 2 out of the 8 I had buzzed or whined quite badly, 2 out.of the 8 I had were particularly bad.

Not sure how well known these are in the UK since only arrived here a few months ago, but my friend has got this brilliant Nanoleaf Aurora. Super bright colours, easy to configure and controls from an App.

Didn't know this thread existed, but was just pointed to it from my own thread about Hue... Hoping for some advice smile

I'm considering replacing my three LED wall lights in the living room, they're currently very small white cubes with up and downlights, but one of them has failed which is prompting me to look at an early change.

What have people done with Hue (or equivalent) in a wall light setting?

I was thinking something like this-

Probably stick a colour E14 bulb in each one, although it may detract from the glowing back wall and area behind the TV. so perhaps stick with white ambiance only?

coffee

Alternative is up and down spotlights, although that would mean 6 GU10 bulbs to buy.

Living room for reference-

Had mine for just under a year and I'm very impressed with it and aside from a couple of software bugs it's been flawless.

A couple interesting things I've done with them:
  • Added a strip light and a sensor to the kids bedroom under the beds so if they wake up and want to go to the loo the floor is lit in a dim red so they don't have to stumble in the dark or turn the lights on.
  • Hue Labs for holidays so when we're away the back light and lamps in the living room look like a TV is on, plus the other lights randomise around time slots so it looks like we're out - and moving between rooms if I get very smart about it.
Got to say the backlighting for the TV is great and really helps with key strain and it's also nice to change the scenes with Alexa based on movies, games or just trying to wake up in the morning.

Smart bit of kit.

Answering my own post, I've ended up opting for the GU10 spotlights for the living room walls.

I don't think I'm going to go with colour bulbs as it'ls going to be £240 for 6 (unless someone can show me a special offer?)

But, are all the white ones the same? On Amazon they only seem to do white ambiance, but on Maplin there are two-

I'm guessing that the cheaper one gives no control over colour temperature?

TRÅDFRI GU10's are much cheaper (compatible with Hue).

Oh wow, they really are a lot cheaper! They any good? I heard that the Innr ones sometimes make a noise.

Also, any ideas if the Ikea ones will be available in colour versions anytime soon?

From searching online it seems that they are not HomeKit compatible though?

Would HomeKit not be talking to the Hue bridge rather than the bulbs?

Either way it looks like it will happen...

Ah sod it, I'm going for colour bulbs, they're shiny and I want more toys to play with.

Anyone know where the best deals are at the moment? There don't seem to be any on offer! I'm actually considering trawling eBay in case I can get a lightly used set or something.

Fellow Hue'rs - I'm now after advice on the best way to do more fancy things with my existing bulbs. I can currently activate scenes through Google Home using my IFTT app, but what I really want is do it in a more dynamic way.

For example, when I select the blue scene (two white bulbs, three blue) - I'd like a sort of "Mexican wave" around my room as all of the lights flash on, then revert to their correct colour and brightness once the "wave" is complete i,e,

Bulb 1 on for 0.2 seconds - off
Bulb 2 on for 0.2 seconds - off
Bulb 3 on for 0.2 seconds - off
Bulb 4 on for 0.2 seconds - off
Bulb 5 on for 0.2 seconds - off
Bulbs 1, 2, 3 - on, blue
Bulbs 4 and 5 - on, white

What sort of app can I play with to make this happen, and, can it be integrated within Google Home to get voice control?

If I could get google home to play the star trek computer beep in confirmation then I'd be in absolute heaven biggrin

I think you’d be looking at PC control for that level of command.

You should be able to do that with Stringify. The minimum on/off time is 1 second though. I'll try to create a sample for you to view.
