Does anyone know why some skills present the individual actuator and others require you to ask the skill to activate the actuator?
For example, I have a LightwaveRF switch for my drive lighting, simply labelled as “drive” which Alexa can see and switch without my asking her to ask LightwaveRF. Whereas, to control my individually named Heatmiser thermostats requires me to ask Alexa to ask Heatmiser to {do something with} any of those named thermostats.

Well, this morning I woke up at six to go for a run.
I asked Alexa what the temperature was and immediately decided to stay in bed!
Payed for itself right there...
(I'll run tonight. Probably).

(I got up at 4 and did hill reps. Although for 2 minutes after the alarm I sacked it off...then had a word with myself. It was sharp but beautiful out.)
Got the new Echo delivered today. Maybe my expectations were too high but to me it's a massive disappointment.
The cloth covering and top of the device look very cheap - my second gen dot dot looks better as the top has some texturing and vents around the outside - the new Echo looks like a 1p piece of plastic with 7 holes poked in it.
Sound quality (to me) doesn't seem any better than the 1st Gen Echo, possibly worse. While clearly better than the dot it's poor compared to some £30 bluetooth speakers I've heard.
As a Sonos user I've also found the initial Alexa integration poor.
So now in 2 minds. Return them both? Keep the Sonos and hope the integration improves?
ETA - I've found the Alexa integration on the Sonos One (which I've also purchased) poor. Not the Alexa/Sonos integration.

Well after waiting all day for my preorder Echo (then noticing if I just ordered on prime now this morning I could have got it this morning) it arrived 20 minutes before I left for work. I personally think it looks good (I went for the grey one) the sound is better than my Anker Soundcore that I have (and impressed with). The only gripe at the moment is that it appears to have duplicated a lot of my Hue bulbs and I don’t seem to be able to delete the duplicates.

So by creating routines I’ve managed to get round the duplicate hue bulb names.
I've got the same issue. How did you fix it?
What I did was create a routine (only works with hue hub 2) for example:
Alexa, Bedroom on.
This then turns on the bedroom bulb (doesn’t matter which duplicate you choose)
You would then need to create another routine:
Alexa, bedroom off.
And change the bulb to off.
Works a treat, although annoying I’ve had to create a workaround.

If you log into Alexa.amazon.co.uk (if on iOS force into desktop mode)
Go to menu > smart home > devices
Then forget the duplicates and job done!

Loving the new 'scenes' control where you can write scripts almost based on one command.
They also allow for swear words...
i have mine programmed so i can say 'alexa, go fk yourself'
to which she responds with the quickest route... (traffic lol)
hours of fun
How do you do that? They also allow for swear words...
