Not sure if its been mentioned but the problem, which prevented Alexa working with Spotify on Sonos, has now been resolved.

Are the TP-Link HS100 smart plugs any good? They've just dropped from £25 to £20 on Amazon.
Coosa plugs seem to be getting some good reports on the UK Facebook page, got one on order for the tree lights.

I’ve got about 15 tp link plugs. Controlled by phone/iPad and Echos.

Easy to set up and very controllable.

I paid about £35 for mine and thought at the time it was a good deal!

I assume they operate directly from the Echo without needing a bridge of any sort?

Might have to buy a couple because manmaths, but I'm struggling to work out what I'd switch with them at the moment biggrin Light switches would probably make more sense for me.
Yes, they work fine. But £20 is over priced for them still; I wouldn't pay more than £15 for them.

Last I heard the TP Link ones didn't work well with IFTTT (but there was a workaround using Webhooks.) Still the cheapest of the bigger brands out there.

ETA: This is more like it:

3 for £40.

Sod’s law as soon as I said how good they were my tp link hs100 now says unresponsive with Alexa. It’s fully working in the Kasa app I’ve tried a reset and reinstall but no joy. Anyone had this before?

The £10 offer for the plugs no longer looks to be available on Amazon. I was going to push the boat out for an Echo plus today but I'm not buying it if I can no longer get the plug.

fk em. I'll wait until January.

Thanks for that. I ordered two from Amazon for £40 after missing out on the Echo order, but this is a much better deal.

It also means I can get them now, as Amazone have a wait. They obviously burned through all of the their stock of the HS100 as the HS110 is now the same price with Prime delivery. I'd still rather have the HS100 at the Argos price.

Take a look at the Argos deal linked above - you'll get three for £40 rather than two.

Anything hard to reach (fish tank light in my case) and anywhere you or your better half is neurotic about being left on - where you use the iron, hair straighteners etc.

Or just rig them up to a lamp. Not as clever as smart lighting but simple and works.

I'm also considering using one or two in built in appliances that - behind the fascia/workboards - have a normal plug. Living room electric fire etc.

The argos ones are currently out of stock for home delivery and no branches near home showing more than 1 in stock frown

I have my bed side lamp on a Wemo plug. On a timer so it goes off every weekday to help wake me up, also voice controlled by Alexa.

Also one on the slow cooker so you can turn it on at work via phone app and it will be ready when you get in.

I love lying in bed turning the kettle on via Alexa

What kettle do you have that doesn't need the on switch flicked every time you wanna boil it?

I was thinking that. Pretty limited with the things you can use smart plugs for.

Fill with water and flick the switch before bed.

Our kettle needs the power on for the switch to remain on.

The TP link plugs are very good and do not need a hub, even to work from off your home network.

App is decent too
