I've just ordered 3 thanks, will the Dot work the Ikea smart bulbs mentioned earlier directly? I don't have any other Echo bits yet.

I don't think that the dots will work with just the bulbs though. IIRC you need an Echo Plus or the Ikea hub.

I'll happily be corrected on that - I got the echo plus first and then added a dot so you may be right - can you not add skills to a dot then?

No as it doesn’t have a zigbee controller built in like the plus. It needs a hub or plus b

Has anybody found a good z-wave light switch to replace the in wall unit that works with Alexa?

I have been using the Hue switches but my remaining rooms do not have Hue bulbs in them so I can't use Openhab to monitor the Hue bulb(s) in the room (as there aren't any in these rooms) and trigger the other z-wave switches (WeMo, Aeon).

Hi I'm just getting into this with a kitchen refit. I've got this lined up - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077SRPKKT/ref...

That'll do what I want I think - ie be Alexa-controlled as a 'under-the-kitchenunits' light, additional to the main ceiling lighting.

But now I'm wondering if I can go further, and have a 2-gang wall-switch dimmer that Alexa can control? "Alexa turn on the toplights", "Alexa turn on the LEDS at 50% red". Voice-activated, with the option of using the wall-switch if I want to be quiet.

Anyone done that?

^^^ I’m in the process of doing exactly that with a Fibaro relay but I need a z-wave controller first.

Also, check out my post at the top of the prev page for cheaper WiFi controllable LED strips.
