It seems to work with nothing particularly needing doing. I'm still finding the phrases that work, but most are straightforward. "Stop playing on my Fire TV," etc.
Related in a way, but not: it's a shame they've not incorporated control of the Fire TV into Routines. I've got a routine that will turn on the TV, set the coloured bulbs in the front room to how I want them but not open the Netflix app on the Fire TV. It would basically be a poor mans route into Harmony territory.

Fitted a few of these today: https://aeotec.com/z-wave-wireless-switch to provide coverage with a physical switch for the few remaining rooms I couldn't cover with a Hue switch as the room had no Hue bulbs present.
They are a little pricey at £80 but similar to the decent quality z-wave wall plate switches that require proper wiring into the electrical wiring for the lighting. Being wireless you do not have to worry if you have or don't have a neutral at the wall plate. Obviously you end up with multiple switches if fitting next to the existing legacy switch.
Really easy to setup with Smartthings, but you do have to add a custom device handler from a 3rd party to get it to work. Took about 10 minutes for me to setup 3 switches including setting up the scenes to the buttons.
The two way switch will support three different actions, so you can set and on/off action for three different groups/scenes. The four way switch will support double that number. That isn't including the held actions, which add another two and four actions on top. Doesn't seem to support the double/triple/quad taps that the Hue switches support but still easy enough to use.
As they are z-wave you can use them to control anything else z-wave, such as a fibrao or aeon remote relay, garage doors, mains switches, etc. With smartthings I can also control anything via Harmony, Hue and WeMo via the switch.

I've just had my weekly "What's new with Alexa?" email, and in the list of things to try is:
"Alexa, Watch the Tick on Fire TV" - Learn how to control your Amazon Fire TV with your Echo Device.
Wasn't this something people were saying recently was available in the US but not here yet? Looks like it's arrived.
