Is there still no way to default output to a particular (Sonos) group - so i don't have to say 'in Garden Room / Lounge / Kitchen' etc?

Something else I've learnt is that Alexa is not great with young children's speech. I walked in on my five year old daughter who had "Smells Like Tenn Spirit" blasting at full volume, now not that I have anything against Mr Cobain and his mates but it did seem a bit hardcore for the average kid who's just started school so I asked her what she was playing. She looked about as confused as me but told me all she'd said was "Alexa, play Moana on Spotify" it appears that to Alexa an Antipodean Disney Princess sounds awfully like late 80's Seattle Grunge.
Struggles to understand my Mrs. I have no issues at all.

I tend to have to annunciate more than I normally would, whereas by American fiancée can just talk completely normally and she always understands her.

I suppose the expectation is that voice recognition will always be improving as amazon slowly takes over humanity.

To me though, it seems to be getting worse. I have added loads of groups and routines though so not sure if these have adversely influenced it.

Does it work with RF as well as IR though?
What are you controlling via RF?
Many wall sockets.

Quick question about Fire TV and door bells.

I've got a Ring Video Doorbell. To view it through my Fire TV stick, I just ask Alexa (via the Dot, or using the voice remote) to show me it. That's fine and dandy.

But I want to view it the only fashioned way - by using the remote. That might sound cack handed, but having recently got a Harmony Elite I've got some automation plans for it. That will only work if I can select it through the remote somehow. Any ideas on how I'd do this?

What is it exactly you're trying to achieve?

A couple of things, with a few different benefits which I won't go into.

The simpler of the two is to assign a button to my Harmony Remote to pull up the Doorbell feed on my Fire TV.

The second is a bit more complex but I think will be doable between the Harmony and SmartThings - but only if the Harmony can somehow execute the command to pull up the video feed. If the doorbell is rung I want it to switch feeds from whatever I'm watching to the Doorbell camera.

Ring have suggested it's not possible. Which seems a bit nuts to me - a voice command is just a command, you'd think there'd be a way of manually executing the same command) But I suspect that's Amazon more than Ring. And I also wonder if I can rig a workaround by plugging the video feed url into a Fire TV web browser, but it'll take some tinkering - and likely add lag to the process, which partially defeats the object.

Can that not be done as an activity?

View Doorbell Activity, Harmony turns on TV, switches input to Fire Stick, then whatever button presses are required from there.

Might be doable with ITTT.

You can only select ring on your telly with voice so it won’t work with your Logitech as that needs sequences of button pressing.

Is anyone else experiencing issues with Radio playback on their Echo Dot?

Since yesterday mine steadfastly refuses to stop playing radio, I have to disconnect the usb power cable or ask it to play a playlist track THEN give the command to stop

Just wondering if this is a wider issue..

Reading on Reddit these are the features plus more like being able to set light colours in routines that are available in the US but nowhere else yet.

Announcements that work on all devices - I really want that.
And calling phones
And follow on mode
And the brief mode that stops the “O.K.” reply

Anyone know why this happens? Surely features for the USA should all work in the UK too?

Broadlink skill now available in the UK, means you can control your tv and other devices with rm pro and rm3 mini. Seems to work well. Cheap way to control a lot of items.

Announcements is now available on Alexa. “Alexa announcement” “what announcement would you like to make” takes a recording and then send sit to all devices.

Yeah, you just say “Alexa announce dinners ready”

And it says “dinners ready” (or whatever) on all devices.

It does some special chimes for time for bed and some others also I think.

I have an echo in the kitchen, and bought a dot for the lounge which is connected to my Samsung soundbar connected with 3.5mm Jack.

There is a delay (dot/Samsung are lagging) presumably due to signal processing on the soundbar and it makes a terrible echo.

Is there anything I can do e.g. put a few ms delay on the echo?

Is the Samsung soundbar bluetooth compatible? If so try connecting by bluetooth.
