The Echo Wall Clock is up for pre order, released on August 6th, £29.99 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Echo-Wall-Clock/dp...

This isn't an Echo itself, it connects to your Echo and shows any timers/alarms you set.
Are you sure this is a pre-order?

This looks just like a common, or garden, order.

I think you had better check.

A pre order is for something that isn't out yet. It isn't August yet.

My heating doesn't have a thermostat anywhere, except for TRV on the radiators, or a control panel. The settings for the time the hot water and heating comes on/off and temp are all on a pull out drawer on the combi boiler.

I'm knackered for getting an Alexa controlled Hive or something aren't I?

I'm staggered that you aren't aware of what a pre order is.

Basically order it now and as soon as its available they will take the money and send it to you.

What do you think pre-order means?

I've placed an order for the Echo Clock. It doesn't exist yet in that the factory have yet to produce it so that Amazon can ship it. When they do produce it they will send one to me and charge my account accordingly.

I just installed a Hive and from what I can understand it is designed to work with combis that have a separate controller although I suspect someone somewhere would know how to get it working on yours. ISTR my Dads boiler (which is in his loft) had an integrated timer system which was disabled and replaced with a digital wifi one when he had it installed.

Try posting in homes, gardens and DIY.

I can;t imagine british gas would limit HIVE to specific boilers or that all boilers can only be used with the built in controls.

My Amazon Echo Gen 1 has developed a problem.

It works in a fashion but has no bass so it sounds more than tinny

Any ideas on a fix?

Ebay spares etc?

Got my Echo clock yesterday. A good replacement for the old kitchen clock but was a pain to set up due to the Amazon basics batteries being almost dead on arrival. Found some energisers with a best before of 2016 in the kitchen drawer, chucked them in and it set up perfectly.

Almost entirely pointless but then so is most of the Alexa stuff.

Random question - as I don't really know what search terms to use...

My kids are with me this week (Yay!) and my daughter wants to change the colour of her bulb from her phone. Is there a way to do this or do I have to log her in as me on her phone. What I don't want is for her to be at (her) home and turning my things on and off - And she would too as it'd be hilarious (!)...

The FireTV Cube will find its way to the UK soon, and it's a slightly updated version from the original launched last year. https://www.pocket-lint.com/tv/news/amazon/149206-...

There are also JVC TVs with Alexa built in. No word on the Recast DVR box though.

That’s exactly what will happen, I still do this to my kids when I’m away. It never wears out.

You could get one of those Philips switches which are also like a remote and just link it to her light.

Or get a third party app but only put her light on it, But then she can still use it to control the light from her house, but just that light.

I’m not aware of any where you temporarily grant access.
