I've listened to it a lot since upgrading yesterday afternoon and I'm a big fan.

Loving that it will play through the stereo in the car which is a big plus.
My 4S will happily play Spotify through my old Alpine, along with album art ....

I've wondered at those who justify £60+ per month for Sky TV but £15 per month just to listen to music?

Each to their own and all that, but I'll stick to Radio 3 and switch it off when they're airing music I'm not keen on. hehe
I get the impression that you value music less than others?

For me, the £10 a month has been easy to justify. It's one album. When I was younger, it was always hit and miss going to woollies or "our price" to buy a new band album only to find that it's a pile of ste.

Music streaming services have helped me change my perception of music and the way i discover it, and seems to be embraced by millions.

Are you using data for that?

And is there a minimum contract length?
Yes, im on a 20GB 4G contract so will see how much data I start to use.

Don't think so, I think you can just cancel as and when. Happy to be corrected though!
Just create an offline playlist, no data usage then

The mobile networks are really going to have to sort their st out with regards to data usage from mobile phones.

It's becoming common for people to stream internet radio or Spotify/Deezer etc for the 8 hours a day they are at work and whenever they are on a longer car journey.

Throw in a bit of email, Facebook, iMessage, Google maps sat nav, browsing the net and reading the News could leave you smashing 10gb per month.

It's a piss take.

10 years ago most of the mobile contracts were unlimited data, but as soon as they realised people actually wanted data, they started vigorously bumming people over it.

I am on Three, so have unlimited mobile data, but with Apple Music you can download stuff to your phone to listen to offline, as if you'd purchased it from the iTunes Store. There is no limit to the number of these downloads or how long you keep them saved for, as far as I can work out.

I've signed up for it, but it's interesting to read others opinions. Personally I'm finding I've not listened to anything I've not already bought.

My trend is to just buy the odd songs I like each week, it doesn't usually add up to any more than £10/month and often less as there are dead periods when nothing interesting comes out.

So I guess for me, I'd just be subscription based rather than owner but no better/worse off. Currently thinking i'll revert to my old model of paying for the odd good songs I like.

Unless I'm not understanding correctly, it seems it can't do the one thing that I need - which is for either me or the missus to be controlling it via our own phones without paying for two (or the family) membership. Spotify allows that but seems the apple music account is liked to the Apple ID so you'd need the family membership which is 50% more than a Spotify account which we can both use on our iOS apps to control the music at home.

I checked the available stream bitrates and beats1 should use roughly between 30 to 60 megabytes per hour on the data plan.

The maximum bitrate over cellular is limited to 64/128 kbit/s. 256 kbit/s is only for WiFi connections.

Listening to a playlist over and over again should use less data because of caching.

On the free trial and liking it so far. I've never tried any of the streaming services so it's all new to me.

The only downside for me is no native Apple Music app is yet availabe for my AppleTV which I use as my main music player in the house. I suspect thsi will come with a new AppleTV box in September.

So they do. Is that recent? I'm sure they weren't on there when I first got Spotify.

Having played with Apple Music all evening it does make Spotify 's app seem horribly dated and basic. It just seems much easier to browse and find new music with Apple.
That's what I thought of Google Play Music when I made the jump from spotify.
Some competition never hurts, I've been very happy with my play music subscription and I love Apple's "family" membership, I hope others follow suit!

One small question, for the songs that aren't in there, can you upload them into a personal library so you have them available everywhere like the rest of the music? iirc, spotify now allows it after Play music introduced it, and it would be a nice addition.

Oh another on, what platforms are they targeting? Or is the typical Apple-only mentality?
They are going to get a lot of people who never went to spotify or any other service though, which is great for them but doesn't really help in the fair comparisons.

Edit: Just saw, only iOS for mobile devices now, android release "this fall". :/

I'm enjoying Apple Music right now as I work smile

I'm loving the 'For You' playlists facility.

I'm currently listening to the Hip Hop Pre-Party playlist and it is terrific, just my style and already heard a few tracks that I hadn't heard before.

If this is all based on the few minutes I spent telling it what I liked and didn't like then I'm impressed.

I've had Spotify premium for some months now but the Connect function has been pretty unreliable which is annoying since my multiroom system is based around a macmini controlled by iPhones.

I've taken the 3 month trial but cannot find a way to control Apple Music in the same way as one controls iTunes with Remote.

Anyone know anything?

I'm liking it a lot. Enjoyed interview with Marshall Mathers on my morning commute.

Put together a playlist like a sad 14-year old me would have done on the dream C-90 cassette on the way home!

Whilst I've never felt strongly about iTunes, I have to say the interface on Music is just such a pleasure, easy to find stuff, does more things that I want to do, not necessarily because it is better under the hood but just that I can find stuff.

Now I have to say I need to test how good it might be when I want classical music - the Apple Achilles Heel for me has always been the difficulty of finding albums you want by composer when you want your jazz and rock by performer!

Yes. Love the way that I can sit on my sofa controlling music on my phone playing through the hifi from an iPad. Doesn't seem like there's an apple equivalent of this.

Maybe that I know my way around spotify but the apple ui seems hard work.

Yes you can - iTunes Match which is £25/year by itself is included in Apple Music.

I find browsing and discovering new music very enjoyable with Apple Music and some thought has clearly gone into the playlists. It is far far better than Spotify I think.

I will stick with Spotify while Vodafone continue to bundle it with their 4G plans. But I hope they can take a leaf out of Apple's book and make their interface a little more engaging and " fun" to use. With Spotify I search for a specific album and play it; with Apple Music I find myself delving into the app and exploring a little more

A couple of hours in and already found over 5 albums to add to my collection by artists I'd never heard off. Loving it.

The main downside for me is that the Yeti doesn't have an iPod interface and I use an SD card full of music instead. You (understandably) can't rip stuff from Apple Music to external media so anything I like but don't own I can't have in the car. Looks like I'll be shelling out £120 and retrofitting the iPod interface kit. Thanks Apple!!!!!!'

Is that definite? So basically, I can download the entire world of music then and after a few months cancel the lot? i.e. Get them in the cloud, download them onto the machine, job done?

What am I missing? Surely Apple wouldn't allow this?
