Help ! I'm in Spain using my laptop with the hotel's Telefonica Wi-Fi service, you buy a card with a pin number on which gives 24 hr use via the Telefonica homepage which opens when you open IE.

It works but I can't get past the login page when I try to access my Hotmail. I have tried turning off the firewall and Norton security but no go.

The page shows:

If you typed the page address in the Address bar, check that it is entered correctly.

Open the loginnet.passport.com home page and then look for links to the information you want.
Click Search to look for information on the Internet.

HTTP 405 - Resource not allowed

Anyone know why ?

Thanks

There are some settings in IE options.

Something about versions of SSL and TLS

If you have a fiddle around with these it may make a difference. This is the issue I am getting at work with Hotmail specifically and it seems to be helping...

i've had similar problems with using wifi in various parts of the world; i downloaded the mozilla "firefox" browser and i usually find that if i have such problems when using my default internet explorer at a new wifi zone, if i try firefox i can usually log in ok.

OK, I'll have a go with downloading the other browser.

Thanks for the quick advice.

Check the security and privacy tab in IE > Tools > Options.

What icon is showing in the grey status area at the very bottom of IE? (for example, a globe next to 'Internet') That displays the security setting.

I'm a recent Firefox convert, well worth doing.

It will probably be quicker to download and install firefox than it will be to fix the IE problem!

Sounds like the Wireless Access Point is filtering cookies. but I don't know how to get round it.

speak to the hotel and say:

"Oiga! su puta internet no funciona, hijo puta!"

Actually that's a bit rude

Thanks anyway, I suspect you are right, as I've had a few certificate pop-ups issued by Telefonica.

Maricons !

sorry firefox didn't work. have you tried yahoo! for your mobile email? much better than msn rubbish. i know it's a pain to change email addresses but will be worth it just to get away from msn hotmail.
