I'm emailed Wanadoo but I'm not holding my breath for a response....

I've had a Freeserve (now Wanadoo) account for forever and a day, it was an original no charge dial up account.

My pc died on me in November and I've been waiting for it to be fixed (it's being fixed by a friend...). There is a problem with Outlook on my (steam driven) laptop and I can't manage to configure it to download the mail from Wanadoo so I've just been using the Webmail facility to operate the account on line.

I've tried to access the account today (it was OK yesterday) and I've got a message saying that the account is locked. It says this might be because the acount has expired or I might have broken their terms and conditions. Well I'm not aware that I've done anything to break the T&C's (I don't have any of that kind of porn!!) unless there is some requirement that I must access it other than by using web mail and this might be a breach or may have caused the account to expire?

Does anyone have any experience of this? I'm hoping to have the PC back in the next couple of weeks but need to get this sorted.

Freeserve/Wannadoo suspend our account unless you dial in at least once every 90 days (ish). If you have internet access by other means, you can log in to the Wanadoo web site and re-activate your account (it doesn't have be from the same phone number or PC that your account was set up for).

Thanks Green, I'll have a trawl round the site for a reactivate option. I'm a bit confused as I haven't actually dialled in for around 18 months perhaps even 2 years but what I had been doing until November was using Outlook to download the mail via the broadband connection.

The only thing that does occur to me is that I use dial in when I go to my Dad's and that's usually about every six week but he's been away so I haven't been there and used his pc since early January?? I wonder if that might be it?

you just need to use the *retrieve account* button at teh top in the site links part. Mine is always getting suspended for some strange reason .. probably every 3 or 4 months I have to go and reactivate it .. always comes back perfect with no lost mails and just as before .. strange really. i too have been with them since their birth many years ago .. apart from this one glitch (very minor really) the account has been perfect .. my broadband has great speed and rarely causes me any concern. i have no plans to change anyway
