Outlook problem now Office 2003 as well

Hi Outlook 2003 and now any Office 2003 (Word Excel etc) wont start - when I try and open it I get Window installer saying a network resource is unavailable.
"enter a path to a folder containing installer package "511735.MAINSP1op.msp" in the box below.

The box shows only one path "Program FilesOfficeUpdate11Cabs511735"

The install will not work and a message " MAPI32.DLL is corupt or wrong version"

When trying to open Word is says " confirm source exists" not sure how to confirm installation source.

When Outlook 2003 would not open I unistalled and reinstalled Office 2003 - I can now not even uninstall even via the Office CD - it keeps bringing up the path is wrong.

This is on my laptop running XP - I do have wireless and network options on the laptop but I am not using a network at the moment. THis problem seemed to happen yesterday after a auto microsoft downlaod and then the laptop froze during use and it ran chkdsk on start up.

I have tried system restore but Outlook still will not open.

Any help much appreciated.

Auto Update has knackered the installation.

If you go to Google, select groups and enter the error message there should be instructions on how to get around it.
