I am looking to buy a printer, scanner, fax all in one unit. I quite like to look of the HP PSC 2510 Photosmart.

Does anyone have a view on this or any other suggestions?

Thanks

If you are in a network environment, have a look at the Brother MFC-620CN and other Brother machines.

There's a couple of key decision points

1. Colour or b/w (this generally equates to Laser vs Inkjet)
2. Speed (again, a laser will be quicker
3. Quality of print (again, for docs a laser wins hands down).

We went for the HP 3030 in the end. It's a pretty good all in package. I'll add that I still have an old HP 2100 (which is never used), a Canon D2400U which I use for film/transparencies and an Epson 2100 which I use for photo printing / general colour.

Like all these all-in-one devices, you do lose out on quality. However as a general fax, copier and document printing workhorse the HP is a gem.

Personally, I would not buy one of these for it's photo printing, as the quality is not quite on par as a dedicated photo printer. However, I stand to be corrected.

One issue with HP (and Lexmark) is that the cartridges are damn expensive. I've tried various refilled/remanufactured versions and they all gave trouble.
Results are great but if you have an eye on running costs, Canon and Epson cartridges are not only cheaper, but there are also plenty of generic ones to choose from.
