Bargain laptop wanted
Discussion
I currently have a second hand Toshiba Tectra 8200 which has been fine for web browsing but I'm doing web design now and need something that can cope with the applications.
I know there are some cheap laptops out there now but I don't know which are the best!
I'm looking for a laptop under £600 and also need a wireless card to go with it that is compatible with a Netgear DG834G.
I haven't heard good things about Acer laptops, but on Ebuyer I noticed this:
www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=79588
The reviews say it needs some extra memory and a network card, but it looks not bad value for my untrained eye.
Help me spend my money please.

I bought an Tosh A60 in January, its okay for a bog standard laptop, although I also bought a USB hub, microsoft optical mouse and a Keyboard for my own comfort.
I'm not sure its up to heavy duty design work, but MS Office applications aren't a problem. More memory and a wireless card would be a good idea.
Make sure you set up a restore point now and again, before and after installing your applications, it might just save you a lot of time. I'd also advise removing the built-in copy of Norton as well, especially if you are installing a copy of Norton Systemworks, as it doesn't take kindly and a reinstallation job will have to performed. (I learnt the hard way)

For those on an even tighter budget, with a discount code, Dell are doing the Inspiron 1000 (2.2GHz, 256MB 30GB, XGA Screen) for £382. Thats less than a refurbished 1GHz machine!
The link is www.users.totalise.co.uk/~lauriem/latest_additions.html#1103200502
(Note, not a commercial link, just a site that collects current bargains and the like.)

Saw that. It was available with free delivery for £399 last week. However IMHO 512mb instead of 256mb ram and a 15" instead of 14" made it worth the extra 80 credits
