Is anybody else using a Pixel 4a still? I'm seeing some horrific battery life from mine lately with light use (Android 12). At midday yesterday, I had 82% battery and the phone said it would run out by 7:45 that evening!

While I'm moaning... how is the fingerprint scanner so so bad? Also swiping up to view all open apps doesn't always work. I am definitely considering switching to an iPhone 11 just for the battery life. When my girlfriend comes to visit for the weekend and doesn't charge her iPhone 11 once, the battery on this thing does begin to grate.
Yes, 4a user here and I had an "episode" of high battery drain recently. Turned out that Spotify was using a lot of power even when not playing music. Think I ended up removing the app, restarting the phone then installing it again which helped.

When the phone was brand new I'd comfortably get two full days of light to moderate use out of it between charges. Now I am lucky to get to bedtime on the second day. I think I've had the phone about a year now.

Does anyone find their Pixel doesn't always automatically update? I have a Pixel 6 Pro, and have updates (security/system) set to automatically update, but this doesn't always seem to be the case.

About 6-7 weeks ago my NFC payment stopped working for no known reason. Changed apps, bank cards etc to no avail. Spoke to Google who found I was running an old software/security version, so I manually updated it and NFC worked fine again. I just had an email from Google about a new Pixel update, I went into my system settings, it said I was "up to date" but when I clicked "check for updates" there was another security update.

Any thoughts?!

Thanks.

Yeah, Google Play never updates automatically, quite frustrating but I'm in the habit of checking every couple of days. Guess I need to get into the habit of checking for security updates too!

Many thanks.

I think the idea is that apps update when device is idle and on wifi so a typical time is overnight when it's on charge but not in use. I have found on the P6 this doesn't always happen but I just checked and all apps were up to date.

Nope, mine doesn't update automatically and I don't leave it on flight mode.

Nope mine doesn't update automatically either I have to push it first.
First update android version from the system settings then update Google play from the about phone settings.

They normally land on the 5/6/7th of the month, so just check it at the end of the first week of the month.

It definitely won't update them in flight mode as it needs a data connection.

If it's just a case of not wanting to get texts/calls etc you could just set the phone to automatically switch to DND overnight and turn off in the morning.

That's what I was gonna say DND works well and you can have certain people who can break through

Yeh I use DND, have set it so if the same person calls twice within 15 minutes it turns off.

Mine's set to turn DND on when I put it on the charging stand with a few select 'allowed' callers and the 'twice within 15 mins' setting for everyone else. Very convenient.

Security updates are the first Monday of the month (usually)

Just ordered one a 6 pro from google store. I was in two minds, and still am tbh because of all the negative reviews but never had a pixel. I nearly bought an iphone but i have one for work and don't really like it. So i'm sticking with android but what forced my hand was my note4 is now so old trading212 won't support it any more, nor will hsbc, nor will some of the other apps i use. I've been installing my own root certs for over a year. Its time to pull the plug frown

Edit am sure it'll be an improvement over the note4 though i'll miss the pen. Didn't want another samsung coz of all the crap and the s22 ultra was beyond what i wanted to spend.

Can anyone recommend a case ideally one that folds like a wallet and even more ideally not too expensive?
