Sorely tempted by the John Lewis offer, as I've got an old Pixel 1 I could trade in for another £100. Just got to decide if the 6a is worth a £199 upgrade over my 20 month old 4a 5g!

I'd be more tempted to keep the OG Pixel, it was the only Pixel to get full quality photo storage for life - transfer images from other Pixels and upload to Google Photos and save paying for Google One (I've still got one and my One storage is getting full, time to start using it!)

Curry's have a £100 voucher offer on the Pixels at the moment. Right now, I'm waiting to see if I can get one and have the £100 gift card activated (takes 30 days to get to you apparently).

I was going to purchase the buds later anyway so it works out free like this.

Edit - B0ll0cks. They only have 128Gb obsidian ones in stock. That's it.

Couple of questions - possibly not specifically Pixel related but it's a Pixel 4A I have so here goes...

Mine has, off and on, displayed some weather info on the lock and home screen. Problem is, it thinks I'm in Llanelly in South Wales, not Aberdeen where I actually am. I can't see how to correct that and attempting to hide the weather stuff altogether only hid it on the lock screen, not the home screen. Any ideas?

Second, I've been using a lot of hire cars lately with work. Seems I have to plug the phone in to the car with a cable, surely that should just work via Bluetooth?

Yes if you just want to use the hands free phone capability. If you want to use Android Auto then you will need to plug the phone in via USB

Just to check: the Pixel 6 or 6A?

I saw 6A for £299 but still a little on the fence with it and whether i'd opt for Pixel 7 or a different brand.

£299 on Currys with a promo code but appears to be out of stock now.

I'd probably shell out a bit more for the 7 if it came to it.

Of course it is, you will find people selling them for £340ish on ebay next week who have bought them at 299.

I ended up purchasing the 7 from Currys with the £100 voucher due next month (I'll buy the buds with it).

So far, I don't regret my decision. Way umming and ah'ing over the 6a, but better the 7 for my piece of mind. Also, it was the only one Watford had in stock with 128Gb. Would have much preferred 256Gb.

I pre-ordered the Pixel 7 Pro on launch day. Someone on here then posted that Carphone Warehouse were giving an additional £150 on trade in's when buying the Pixel so I placed another order with them.

I'm still waiting on Google refunded me for the original phone I bought from them that I sent back but think this will be resolved in the next few days.

I decided to go with the Hazel colour and I'm really glad I did. Much more interesting than black or white imo. I have a clear case on it, the gold accent is very subtle in real life.

Phone has been great so far no issues, glitches or bugs in the few weeks I have been using it. It is a large phone especially coming from the Pixel 5 but now I'm used to it I just enjoy the benefit of the larger screen. Generally feels and behaves like a more premium device than the Pixel 5 which it should at the additional cost.

Carphone were great regarding the trade in, money credited within a few days and they paid the full price plus the additional £150. Have read on here some people have had trouble with the Google trade in scheme not paying out.

My watch arrived a few days ago. No idea the best way to get rid of it. There is a few on eBay and I'm reluctant to sell on there as everyone seems to have issues with people saying they haven't received it.

My watch arrived finally, I'm going to keep it and use it for a while. It's taking some getting used to the daily charging routine, but I think battery life is improving as the days go on. Apart from that, the only real grip is the size, it is a very small watch and the screen is even smaller. Not sure why they didn't make it bigger.

As for the phone, the 7pro is great. No issues a few weeks in and battery life is improving slightly. Still not as good as my old Huawei, but I do have the display on 2k 120hz and with AOD on.

Camera, or rather the software, remains very impressive.

5g appears to be mostly pointless. Can't say there was any situation where 4g didn't suffice. Once you can stream easily in 4k, what more do you need? Obviously not phone specific that one.

Speakers are decent, I don't use them much as if I'm playing music it would be through the fantastic pixel bud pros and I'm not the kind of person who uses speakerphone for calls.

My only gripe with the phone now is that it doesn't have 3d face unlock. Using the camera rather is ok, but so much less reliable and it is slower than having a proper sensor. I'd much rather have a notch and a proper sensor to do the job, but no phone seems to do this now except for Huawei and Apple. Finger print does the job well most of the time I guess.

I was similar to you with the watch, didn't originally plan on keeping it, took it out of the box and used it for a couple of days and decided to keep it. It's nice to have but certainly wouldn't pay more than £200 for it. You get used to the size

Chaps I am looking for a 6 or7. Sadly my Huawei P30 Pro has a cracked screen so not really any use for trade in.

Best I could find was 350 for a 6 from Argos. Now out of stock so I feel a bit dumb for trying to wait until Cyber Monday...

Keep trying Currys website? I got a 6 from there on Thursday but it had been in and out of stock. 299 for the 6. Yes it's not the latest and greatest 7 but so far it seems really good. A case is a must though as it feels fragile!

My only annoyance with the 7 Pro so far, is that the camera doesn't have a 1:1 square option, whereas my previous Sony did.

Obviously you can drop the photo afterwards to 1:1, but it does make framing square photos (for Instagram and other sharing sites) a bit awkward.
