I'm looking at the 7 Pro. What do you think?

It depends what you want it for. Photography, gaming or what. Is size of screen important (is bigger actually better or worse - given the impact on pocketability or one-handed use)

I looked at this and went for the 7. The pro is a bit too big and I'm not much a picture taker, only snapping pics once a blue moon. The 7 is a very decent size.

The pro is quick big but you get used to it fairly quickly. My wife still has a pixel 5 and now if I pick it up by mistake it is weird, like a dinky toy, even though about a month ago I had one and it felt normal.

It's a photography thing. I have a Huawei P30 Pro, which takes brilliant pictures, and does not seem to be much smaller than the 6 Pro. But I have just smashed the screen, and am talking myself I to something that had 5G, Android 13 (the Huawei stops at 10) and can also take good photos.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks and its top notch. Camera (the zoom is amazing!) and screen are superb and has a real quality feel about it.

p.s. if you go for the official google case, the wireless charging doesn't absorb it.

Totally agree! Used to be better than my wife's old Galaxy 10, and now it is worse...

Harry I would pay the extra and go for the Pro especially if it is for photography. You do get a few extra camera features bundled with the Pro.

As I said previously at first going from the 5 to the Pro the size shocked me but now I'm completely used to it and enjoy the benefit of the larger screen.

On paper you get more features but in reality having used both I'm not sure the amount to anything material unless you're regularly taking very long distance shots or macro images. In all other use cases the 7 and 7 Pro cameras are fundamentally identical, and both are head and shoulders above most phones on the market.

I also note that whilst the Pro has mm wave 5G for better speed, and the 6 doesn't, we don't actually use the technology here, so there won't be a data speed performance difference out of the house.

And as I don't game or watch video on my phone, the better screen on the Pro doesn't seem that relevant either.

Hmm.

I've noticed my screen being unresponsive to some input or slow to respond to input at times. Anyone else having issues with their 7s?

I moved from a P30 Pro to a Pixel 7 Pro last month

The P30 Pro has an excellent camera if you understand photography. The Pixel 7 Pro is the best point and shoot camera I have ever seen. It takes excellent photos even if you know nothing about photography and is probably the best camera on the market for the vast majority of people

I have a DSLR and used to use it a great deal. But with kids, it's all point and shoot as I don't carry a camera rig around with me.

6 Pro sounds good. And it shoots in Raw, like the P30 Pro.

A video popped up on my Google feed earlier about this, so seems to be a known issue - workaround for now seems to be settings>sound and vibration>vibration and haptics and turn down touch feedback a couple of notches, and turning off smooth display in display settings (which'll set the screen to 60hz) Security update due on Monday, hopefully they sort it out then.

This is where a great camera on a phone excels and if you have an actual interest in photography you should go with the best phone camera you can get on the basis that the camera that will be with you 99% of the time is your phone and, unlike DSLRs the difference between different generations of phone cameras is still material

Thanks to whoever it was that posted about the John Lewis offer on the 6A. I bought one during black Friday "week" and traded in my old Pixel 2 for an additional £119 off the price. A 6A for £180 is very good value for money!

P7P also shoots in RAW, I've had the phone for about a week now and it's really good in all areas, I had the Huawei P20 pro before the Pixel and I'm pleased I made the upgrade.
