Thanks to whoever it was that posted about the John Lewis offer on the 6A. I bought one during black Friday "week" and traded in my old Pixel 2 for an additional £119 off the price. A 6A for £180 is very good value for money!
Jammy git. Mine cost me £300!
A mate bought one for £300 from JL the week before the offer, returned it and got another for £200. JL didn't bat an eyelid. No wonder the high street is dying;)

I have a DSLR and used to use it a great deal. But with kids, it's all point and shoot as I don't carry a camera rig around with me.

6 Pro sounds good. And it shoots in Raw, like the P30 Pro.
P7P also shoots in RAW, I've had the phone for about a week now and it's really good in all areas, I had the Huawei P20 pro before the Pixel and I'm pleased I made the upgrade.
All Pixels since the 2 (maybe even the OG, I'll need to check mine and see!) have the capacity to shoot in RAW

What do people do for photo storage?

My Google photos is almost full and they are asking me to pay monthly for extra storage.

I pay monthly, it's only a few £.

I've a Google One subscription for storage on Drive and Photos.
An annual sub is ridiculously cheap in fairness. It works for us though as it's a household of Pixel phones and Chromebooks, so there's a very real value proposition.

It's £15 for 100gb a year which isn't to bad or if you have an Amazon prime account you get unlimited photo storage with that subscription all though that costs £99 a year now but does have a few other benefits other than the photo storage

Just a FYI, the latest feature drop allows you to keep wi-fi and bluetooth on whilst in airplane mode.

Having had the phone for a little while now, I'm impressed with how much the battery life has improved. I was a little worried at first, but it has really dramatically strengthened. Still at 90% at lunch time and I've been up and using it on and off for about 6 hours.

When I first got it it was dropping down to about 50% by lunch time

Cx File Explorer makes transfer between phone and desktop/laptop simple. You don't have the advantage of automatic backups - but it is free.

I've got the 100gb Google One plan but I'm sitting at 87gb and it's nagging me - you can download everything from Google Photos to personal storage but it does it in chunks of approximately 4gb files that are a PITA to deal with (unsurprisingly)

I select the photos in 3 month chunks, and then download the ZIP to a local backup.
Once done regularly it's quite quick and painless.

Got my 7 yesterday, having a right mare with keeping Wi-Fi connected… any work arounds? I’ve tried resetting all network settings and a factory reset. All apps are up to date, had to use mobile data as Wi-Fi keep dcing.

Turn off random MAC address? I have our WiFi set up to only allowed recognised MACs, and this caught me out until I realised what was going on.

Just bought my wife a 6a (from her 4a) as an upgrade on my now expired EE contract. Basically the same monthly price as switching to a SIM only 25GB contract with EE, but with a phone and Fitbit Versa 4 thrown in. No idea how that works.

Twice now I've put my 6a face-down on a (not obviously not level) glass-topped table and it's slid sideways and fallen off. Anyone else had this? Is the front face *that* slippery?

I had an issue with my WhatsApp notifications on my Pixel 6 pro.

"at your request android is blocking app notification from appearing on this device"

I am a WhatsApp beta tester but something seemed to change with the permissions method on Android 13.

Thought this might be useful if anyone else gets stuck

https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/18650...

My exchanges with WhatsApp support seemed to kick off a request to grant permissions and then it is resolved.

I've noticed live location sharing doesn't work on WhatsApp since moving to the 7 Pro.
Live Location sharing via G Maps works though, so I can only assume it's something with WhatsApp and permissions/android 13 or similar.

Has anyone lost their news feed thing (think that's what it's called) on their 6/Pro, the thing where you swipe right from your home screen to be greeted with relevant (to you) news, information and articles, mines been blank since this morning with just a festive "Google" at the top and a "More stories" tab underneath, click the tab, it does its spinny thing I get "something went wrong......."?

Actually just checked my tablet and its the same, I guess it's a general Google issue?
