Yes, you have to close the app (swipe up from bottom, then "throw" the app forwards) to get rid of that.

It's not particularly useful, as I will be setting the output device in whatever app I'm using if it's relevant.

Thanks, I'll try that, I hadn't thought of swiping it up, I usually just click done and it closes.

Saw in the news this morning that in the UK Googles One premium plans now include Nest aware and Fitbit premium subscriptions which may be useful to some who currently buy them separately.

My workplace has gone over to Microsofts Intune zero trust device policy but sadly it's saying my device (6 pro) isn't compatible, has anyone else experienced this with their Pixel or had success enrolling?

It's annoying as it prevents you from even using web based outlook.

My Samsung Galaxy S20 is currently slowly dying and looking at replacements. What are the opinions on the Pixel 8 Pro in comparison to Samsung's. Refuse to pay the prices for the S24 variants.

Also anyone on ID Mobile as I am fed up of O2 as well

Wife has an S23 Ultra, I have an 8Pro, I prefer the 8Pro as there is no bloatware, it is easier to handle as the Samsung is quite heavy and slab sided the S23 has better specs in terms of speed and gaming capabilities but I think alot is overkill and just willy waving for the average person, my 8Pro is perfectly fine in general operation.

Cameras, the S23 has a better zoom both produce great pictures, Samsungs tend to be over saturated with the 8Pro's being more true to life.

There is the benefit of the S-Pen, the wife never uses it though and I don't think I would.

This is the second Pixel I have had, previously having the 6Pro, which by and large was a good phone, it did have it's niggly issues and did overheat but I was generally happy with it, it is the first time I have actually upgraded to the same manufacturer.

8 Pro is fantastic, S24 may beat it on paper stats, however 99.9% of people couldn't tell.

I'm also in ID, cheap as chips and coverage where I am (uses Three) is the best of all networks.

I don't know if this is now a universal thing amongst all networks, but ID has a sensible tethering policy I.e. they count tethered data against your data allowance (or uncapped, if that's your plan). I used to find that infuriating when I was somewhere I could get 3 or 4G on my phone but god forbid I connect a laptop.

Nope. It doesn't work on my Pro 6. I can't shift it, it came back after this mornings restart and I've not opened Spotify since.

I know it's trivial but I really hate this!

Sounds brilliant. They've opted you out of feeling like you need work stuff on your personal device!

Looks like the latest version of Android has enabled screen mirroring via USB C on the Pixel 8 phones, not a biggie but one step closer to "desktop mode" like DEX.

Well I dropped my P6 today and the screen is black with a streak of pixels.

£179 for a screen replacement in a place near me, so the man maths has stretched to £329 for a refurbished P7 Pro.

Shame because i love my P6 and would ahve hung onto it for another couple of years or until the Pixel Flip comes out.

P7 Pro arrived... feels the same but bigger so far. Does make me feel that it's only worth upgrading every 3 years or so when the incremental improvements add up to a more significant upgrade.

I bought from Back Market and chose condition "Good" (they have fair, good and excellent), and am happy to say the phone is as new. I couldnt tell it is reffurbished. My Mrs bought a samsung from them a few years ago, and had the same experience, and her phone is still going strong. If you dont need the bleeding edge tech, then its very cost effective once the phones have been in the market for a while.

Have to say, I hope they start making slightly smaller phones with the flagship camera setups and screen specs, because the P7 Pro is bigger than i ever wanted, i'll deal with it, but I think i would actually prefer to go just a little smaller than my old P6.

Anyone else found battery life negatively affected by the most recent update? I charge my 7a every second night, before the update I'd still have ~25% left, now I'm lucky if I get to bedtime without it running out.

Does it go away if you swipe the app away out of your notification tray (pull down from top, might need to do it twice depending on your settings, then swipe left or right on the Spotify notification)?

You might need to switch off persistent media notification too.

Dave.

Nope that doesn't work, only thing that gets rid of it is to remove the offending app from your "Recents" as previously mentioned.

You realise you just described a Pixel 8? Feels so much better in the hand than my P6.

I always find the size discussion interesting. I don't want a huge phone, and the 7 Pro is probably at the max size limit, but then there's very little real world difference when cases etc are factored in.
A picture paints a thousand words, as they say;
(P4A, Nexus 6P, P2XL, P7Pro)
