Bluetooth problems

I have a bluetooth headset that I used to use with my P900 until it started playing up and not getting the call passed through. I've now replaced the P900 with an SPV M2000 and I've been using the headset with this phone and it's having the same problem where the connection between the headset and the phone just switches off for no readily apparent reason. The two devices are paired together ok, the phones just seem to think the headset isn't there.

Before I go off and buy a new headset, I thought I'd ask if this is a common occurance with bluetooth devices and one I'm likely to get with another headset?
