As per my post on the other Virgin thread in S,P&L. I actually asked that question about the 30 days notice, my "offer" ends on 12th June 2023 and I've just had my email saying that the increase of £7 will kick in on 13th June PLUS the post "offer" increase of £19 so my £25 pm will be going up to £51 from that date, that's for the 100mb service BB only. I wondered if I had to wait until the 13th May to give notice as there's no way I want to pay what they are asking.

Like many, I also received my price increase notice yesterday.

Was on the Volt deal getting 250mbps for £22, due to end in July. They wanted to increase it to £29 for almost a 33% jump!

Called to do the Virgin Media disconnection dance and was immediately offered the automated £3.50 discount until the end of my contract, which would have still resulted in an increase come May. The lady I spoke to wouldn't budge from £7 discount to July, despite me telling her Vodafone was offering me 500mbps for £30 on my very street.

Got a call today with a new offer of £20 for 350mbps for 18 months, though there would be an increase in April-May next year in line with Virgin's new policy. I took the offer immediately, as it was cheaper than I was paying yesterday and the speed is actually around 380mbps with a faster upload.

Currently you should be able to cancel for free due to the price increase.

They are changing their T&Cs so that in future you cannot cancel for free due to a routine annual price raise.
What's the point of agreeing a price and forming a contract if they can just up it whenever they feel like it?

Do you have to be a certain size of company to get away with this st?

AIUI they’re just falling into line with all the other providers.

I’ve got 12 months left on my contract, so wondering whether I really want to go through the cancellation dance this time to sign up for (cheaper) new 18 month contract where I would then have to pay a large penalty if I ever wanted to cancel.

Lots have been through the infamous cancellation dance and it's well documented here and summed up every few pages.

17 months from now I know the drill. No messing about. Straight to cancellation. No need to waste hours/days of your life.

One topic I'd like to know more about is the 4/5G router option. However I think there is another topic on that.

I've just got the email, £7 increase on my £15 package, nearly 50%! Will be on the phone again tomorrow, they taking the pi55
So I just got off the phone to Virgin, went straight through to "if you're thinking of leaving us", it took them 30+ mins to answer but finally got through to the Philippines. My £7 rise has been cancelled and 'Johny" was adamant I will now only pay £8/m for the rest of my 13 month contract, he repeated this three times. So either I'm a very special customer or he has made a cock up, or he is wrong and the £7 will go back on the £8 in May taking it back to £15/m.

Let's see what happens in May.

Thanks for posting this. I'm on 500MB broadband only. I'm a first-time Virgin Broadband customer over halfway through my contract and am paying £36/month, so will see what they quote at renewal!

Nope, you just need a bunch of complicit tossers in government to allow big business to do what they like with you.

Just spent 30mins on the phone doing 'the dance' I currently pay £47.75 for 100m bb (that is useless to me) 170 odd tv channels (most of which i don't watch) and a phone I never use, this was to rise by £12 from April and the automated call offered me a £6 discount before I even spoke to anyone, after answering their questions on usage with me telling them they can reduce the bb and tv as I have no use they offer me a better package for £2 more than current cost rolleyes
A couple more silly offers and I get put through to the 'retentions team' a couple more offers that didn't cut I and they eventually listen and my new deal is 50m bb (more than enough for my usage) mixit tv (lowest package) and landline (never use no phone plugged in) for £30 for 18 months

I just went through the same dance after a day wasted on the WhatsApp chat.

I am £61 for the M350 broadband, MaxitTV with the BT Sport and a phoneline.

He also said there will be no price rises and I can cancel at anytime with 30 days notice.

Not the best deal but a pound more than I was paying. Better than the £79 they threatened.

It isn't advertised, I was on it before and they upped it to 100 without me even asking for it and as it is only my laptop and phone that connects 100 is wasted, I guess it is thier way of sneakily thinking they can then charge more upon contract renewal for something I have that I never asked for

Had my email so straight onto WhatsApp.

Contract up this December (23) but wanted to raise my M250 from £17 to £24.

They offered to remove the price rise completely and stick at £17 for the remainder of my contract, and would then have to renegotiate in December.

The email I have received however, says £13.50 a month until August, when it goes to £22 a month, and then £44 a month from December, which i obviously won't pay.

That will do me for now!!

I've just had a credit on my account for around £6, so they're giving me some money back. Will see what happens in May, IIRC I pay a month in advance so should get the May bill through next month.

Just been called with a "deal" (quotes used on purpose!).

350Mbps and 10Gb O2 sim for £39!?

Alternative was 250Mbps and 100Gb sim for the same price. Oddly, a little bit more tempting as I do like to watch videos without having to connect to whatever wifi is available when I'm out.

Currently, they've got 75GB for £14 on their website.

My current deal - paying £30 for 125Mbps and £6 for 10Gb (ie £36 total). I guess that means £3 increase to have a 100Gb sim. Essentially £10 for 100Gb which is very useful to me for video purposes. (I have recently been making videos while in the car or at the tennis club, and waiting until I got home before uploading them!)

I was on a "special deal" - Fibre Broadband M100 + basic TV package costing £41.75 per month which expires in October. Their recent increase meant it was going up by £11 per month so i opted to cancel our package.

Despite their best efforts to retain us, we have freeview, amazon & netflix so could really ditch the Virgin TV and just leave the broadband. I was going to switch to Vodafone 500MB fibre for £29 month but Virgin called again and offered 250MB connection - broadband only for £25 per month so we're going with that.

What happens with the old TIVO box? I assume it won't work after the month's notice and it'll just be redundant?

I should have virgin fibre to the house available by April when they complete their street cabling work. I only need a fast BB of around 50mb. Is Virgin worth it?

They'll sell a minimum of 125Mb, it'll cost you £15 but after 12 months jump up to £394 a month. (Slight tongue in cheek but they don't do "customer loyalty.)

I've booked for a City Fibre installation. When it's up and running, I'll be cancelling Virgin. I wonder how hard they'll dance for me.

Who does in that industry?
