UPDATE. I was correct, after two bills at £8/m I've just had the May bill arrive, the £7 price rise has kicked in, so I'm back to £15/m. 'Johny' gave me the wrong info.
Same - not unexpected. My bill is now £37 which has taken 3 different discounts totalling £43 to achieve. It looks like 2 of these discounts run until Dec 2023 at which point I have to go through the process once again
Ha - Like clockwork, call received from Virgins retentions team.
To summarise:
M125 Broadband was £28 a month, risen to £59.
Call 1: £34.
WhatsApp: £37.
Call 2: £28.
Cancelled my package all together.
Retention call just now - Upgraded me to the M350 package, for £23 a month.
£432 saving annually/£36 monthly, for triple the broadband speed.
Bellends.
Virgin are the only provider in my area with fast speeds too - Sky are next with 30mb, so I assumed they'd tell me to ps off knowing they have me over a barrel.
Now to do it again in 18 months time.....

Yeah, VM dont know that your not moving out, we advise customers to do it all the time.
Great stuff - Do you need to use a different bank account? We have the payments out of a joint account at the minute.
Will some fker at Virgin go "aha! gotcha!" ?
No other cable providers in our area. Though the Three 5G router mentioned earlier looks interesting!

If the broadband equivalent of Giffgaff came along, with near equivalent service provision to VM, I'd happily move from VM and not look back - even if it cost marginally more. To summarise:

Not that I am aware of, I'm a tech so don't see that side, but if they start questioning your partner, she can say that you have separated and moved out, so that's why she is taking it out now.We have the payments out of a joint account at the minute.

I got a new18 months contract with Virgin 12 months ago .Now after just 12 months they are saying that there will be a price increase at the end of the month.
Do they have some sort of break clause that allow them yo do this?
I believe that price increases are now written into most, if not all of the data suppliers' contracts (typically RPI + n%). With my prior VM contract, taken out mid last year, the price increase allowed me to cancel the contract without penalty. This is of course what you have to do in order to negotiate the same continued or lower price. Do they have some sort of break clause that allow them yo do this?

Give them a call, hit the thinking of leaving option
They then offered a reduction equivalent to the increase
However mine came off of the ‘lower’ price & there was no increase! That was a few months ago.
Now around £17 for M250
So my temporary reduction has come to an end along with my contract.
They wanted £73.00 per month for a phone line I don’t use basic tv and 125meg broadband.
After 10 mins on the phone and me stating I didn’t want to pay more than £40.00 they would only offer £53.00 for what I already have or £38.00 for broadband only.
So I have given them my 30 notice. Let’s see what happens next?

Ditch the TV and get an aerial. If you need a box get a Freeview/Youview box. They wanted £73.00 per month for a phone line I don’t use basic tv and 125meg broadband.

They're taking the piss. That's the worst pre-deal price I've seen. You should be paying no more than £40 right now and be negotiating down to £20ish. Did you just let the price rise and rise without querying it?They wanted £73.00 per month for a phone line I don’t use basic tv and 125meg broadband.

Currently paying £43.00 contracts up this month and they now want £73.00for the same,Quick resume
Was on £70 per month. 350Mb Broadband, Home phone - free weekend, Medium TV, 2 V6 Boxes, 1 Tivo
Renewal like for like £121.....we need a conversation.....
75 minutes on the phone...first £84.99 then £75, then £69...but I have take on an O2 Sim for £5 per month. So £74 but I can ditch my £8.50 Tesco Mobile
But upgraded to Sky Cinema, All HD Sport Channels, and many other channels, 1 gig internet, unlimited Home phone, and upgrade to 360 boxes including the old Tivo box for a one off £22.50.
To be honest I never thought I would get off the phone...please wait a minute...thank for your patience.......over and over
I'm happy with deal

Currently paying £43.00 contracts up this month and they now want £73.00for the same,I can renew my BB only, expires in a few months. City Fibre are digging up the roads here, so there will be some opposition.
I’ll switch if they are cheaper. Rinse & repeat every couple of years..
Virgin offer now, for the next 18 months:-
Edit
Just renewed, upped to M350 as £2 extra over M250, £30 at checkout , plus the hike next year..
Happy with that as it’s reliable here & can’t be bothered with switching with the inevitable dicking about that comes with it!

I've just gone through the 18 monthly renewal shenanigans. M125 broadband only, was £20 and going up to £51.
First call took nearly an hour and was bizarre. Literally every sentence was repeated back to me to 'confirm my understanding'. It was like talking to a parrot. Resulted in offer of £26.
After confirming cancellation got a call within 24 hours. Agreed to stay on £20 per month, with increase to M250 (or whatever the upper speed is) and a new hub as ours was a bit old.
Given the option I'd prefer to pay £25 and not have to talk to them!
