Phoned up just there and they offered 30mb for £24 a month. I didn't think they still did as low as that.

Factoring in the topcashback return I can get Unlimited Fibre (up to 38mb) with Plusnet for £17 a month equivalent.

All in for £36 a month incl vat
That was arrived at by doing a line rental advance payment credit on phone and some other adjustments

They can certainly pay the line rental part for you

I'll wait a few days and see what happens but that plusnet offer runs out in a week.

The annoying thing is I have zero interest in the phone or TV, I just want cheap, reasonably quick broadband.

I think you might find that the 30mb they offer is capped so you might want to check

I've already told them to cancel it.

BTW, a heads up for anyone on Virgin media, as seen on HotUKdeals Virgin Mobile are currently offering cut price SIM only deals for Virgin media customers.

I rang yesterday and got 1500 mins and 4GB 4G data for £4. According to HotUKdeals, there is a deal for £8 for 9GB data and £10 for 40GB data too. These are 30-day rolling contracts.

Worth a mention in case anyone is looking.
Thanks for that, called and it is on its way.
Who/what number did you call? I just phoned Virgin and they said the above deal doesn't exist (offer ended perhaps but no 30 day rolling contract)

I just had a long phone call from Virgin, asking loads of questions about what we use and what gadgets we have etc. I assumed it was a follow up from the online survey I did yesterday damning their pitiful WiFi. But no, the Indian lady was just trying to sell me a new TiVo box and a mobile phone contract.

Sorry its not clear its 336 incl VAT. they applied a 12 month pre paid line rental credit . Its the same line rental credit anyone can buy and pay for themselves which makes around a 30% saving over the year. Difference is they - Virgin- pay it for you. It keeps you there for another year I suppose

Sorry, only just saw this.

I called usual number 03454541111 and selected mobile. Then was put through to sales.

I said 'a friend' had told me this deal was available for existing broadband customers, the lady asked me for my address and so on to prove I was a Virgin media customer, then a bit of time on hold and returned with "yes, thats fine, how many would you like".

Sim arrived fine, and have got a PAC code to leave old provider (retentions didn't even bother competing hehe)

part screenshot of the order email, (regarding the lifetime bit, was explained to be over phone that the normal deal is 1gb, but they are upping it to 4gb for lifetime of contract.)

I called Virgin a couple days ago but was told they don't have that offer, best they could offer was a £6 deal for 300mb or £9 for 3gb

I got a call from virgin last week and got the £4 Simm offer, they told me I'd get 5gb and roll over data, when the Simm arrived the paperwork also said only 1gb.
After a phone call they stated it was 4gb.
Don't like the idea of 084 numbers at .50p a minute, a lot of companies use 0844.

Apps also exist that convert the 0844 to the underlying line

Try calling again and speaking to someone else. https://www.mobiles.co.uk is also good for cheap sims-really good offers pop up, albeit its a cashback thing (part of Dixon-Carphone Warehouse so minimal risk).

So free line rental for a year. They gave me that sweetener when I was about to leave, they would not do it the following year, so I eventually jumped to BT.

Have again spoken with Virgin, the £4 deal is only available with a phone contract, for sim only it's £9 a month

Just got a call there from Virgin and the best they can do is 50mb at £24 a month.

It's decent but the plusnet topcashback offer has just jumped up to £70 and it's still cheaper anyway.

I just hope I don't regret switching over.

1st call or second? If first one, then you may get another one soon.
