I cancelled as my £25 for 100Mb broadband was coming to an end and their best offer at the time was £33. A week later they rang me and offered £23.50 for a new 12 month contract straight off. More than happy with that. They key is to say you have found a cheaper deal, not that you want a discount.

That's what worked for me.

I told them I was happy with the service but found the same package cheaper with Sky. The first two people I spoke to tried to reduce my package to bring the price down. I politely declined this as Sky would give me what I had now for cheaper...which they probably already knew.

I'm pleased to say I did get a call from the virgin retentions team.

12 month contract which includes all my current package:
- all channels bar Sky Sports and films
- 200 meg broadband
- multi room (2 recordable boxes)
- free anytime calls
- kids channels
- bt sports

Plus Amazon Prime for the year.

£59.50/month for 12 months.

I was happy so accepted the offer.
I paid £66.50 for that last year smile

Our bill (200Mb, anytime calls, full TV except Sky on 2 boxes) had got up to £88, so I called them earlier this week to see what they could do against a price from BT for the same type of package of £66 (also mentioning the £59 black friday offer VM had for new customers). Only got an offer of a £2 reduction, so cancelled to see what would happen.

Got a call back from the retentions team today offering the current package at £59.50 for a new 12 month contract, which I'm happy with. AFAIK I didn't get the Amazon Prime which Hoink was offered though !

Spent an hour trying to get past Roboslut , every time I go to Retentions I get told to call back next week pretty much.

Tried new customer line and it just bounced me out.

How are these robbing tossers still in business ?

Been with VM since dialup and have just checked how hard I am being shafted.....

Same - over an hour.

£135 a month here and they have exactly the same on their website for £80.

I'd he happy with the £80 deal - but no - new customers only

£43 for broadband, here, after telling them Sky's price was better than my renewal offer of £50.50. I would have preferred £32. ;(

Disgracefull behaviour.....
Think they are toast here, but who do you go with now ?
Despise these companies that get so big they dictate the market.

Funnily enough - I was pointed to the £80 deal because they offered it to a colleague of mine who is an existing customer. Of course he is on a lower package at the moment

That was enough for me tbh

I'm paying £73 for 200mb, big bundle with BT sports and it's going up again, I've been with them for 19 years.

I'll be phoning up tomorrow to see if I get anywhere near that if not I'm telling them I'm leaving at the end of the month. That give them three weeks to call me back with a better offer.

Dear Everyone,

You can't now just tell them that you can get it cheaper elsewhere or new customers get it cheaper or you read it on the internet that someone gets it cheaper. They might offer you £2 off.

YOU MUST GO THROUGH WITH CANCELLING AND GET ANOTHER SUPPLIER.

Only then will they probably call you back.

They're playing hardball now, so you must do, too, as they know people are playing the trick of calling threatening but not actually willing to go through it.

Not 100% sure yet, there are plenty of options available and the 'new' customer factor makes the deals far more palatable

Quite why they let 10+ year customers leave is beyond me, I just fished a bill out from 2017 - its gone up £55./m since then!! granted that was a loyalty/retention deal but if they don't offer any deals whatsoever now then meh

Yes, I've been with them since 2005 or whatever. Made no difference. In the end, I was prepared to go to Vodafone and have a BT line installed. It was only then that they gave me about 30% discount.

I'm now paying £53 including the November price rise

One word of caution. VM have twice tried to shaft me by 'forgetting' to apply the £50 credit that was promised on my account,.
First was a referral, second was a package change/retention that I managed to squeeze £50 on top of a decent deal. No surprise that it didn't appear on next months bill as promised.
Naturally lots of waiting on the phone, lots of 'dont know how thats happened' or 'I cant see this on your account' nonsense. Luckily managed to get a UK manager/supervisor who sorted it out.

So if you're offered a credit, make sure you either screen-shot the chat, or ask that the person specifically add that information to your account notes!

Just cancelled with VM, just wouldn't shift on price after 16 years with them. Next stop BT.

You should get the retention call in a week!

I know how you feel. Have been with them since whenever they took over NTL.
